Give someone a ring this Christmas.

Christmas - a time of year best spent with family and friends, can be an especially lonely period for those who don’t have loved ones around. Statistics show that half a million older people in the UK expect to feel lonely this Christmas. Age Scotland research has uncovered that more than 100,000 older people will eat Christmas dinner alone this year. So how can we help? A simple way to reach out to someone who is lacking in human contact is to have a friendly conversation with them. Talking with someone who feels lonely can empower them, improve their well-being and help build their self-esteem.

Together we can put a stop to loneliness in Scotland and be there for older people who need our help. Every month Age Scotland receive over 1,000 calls to their helpline from older people looking for support. Their team offer expert advice, information and friendship, and take the time to really listen. They are a lifeline to older people who desperately need our help. Please help older people in Scotland suffering from loneliness.
