We bring people together to explore possibilities, using art as a catalyst to spark new ideas.

Artlink believes participation in the arts has an important role to play in realising personal and social change. Our aim is to increase opportunities to take part in the arts for those who experience disadvantage or disability in the East of Scotland. We offer practical support so people can get involved, and also work with venues to increase opportunities to enjoy the arts. Artlink establishes partnerships with artists, venues and organisations to help transform lives.

The Makers showed they can turn their hand to all things crafty with a colourful and hands-on cushion making workshop with designer Emily Millichip and her assistant Klaudia. From putting together moodboards which blended colour and texture through to their final, show-stopping pieces, they learned a range of skills and created some amazing hand-made one-off cushions. We loved Kerry’s 3D greenery, Nikita’s appliqué homage to Hannah Montana, not to mention Darryl’s cheeky horse and Mary’s ode to her Nana.

Thanks to the Lend and Mend Hub at Gorebridge Library for the use of the space.

CAPS Independent Advocacy needs your help to raise funds to support their annual Out of Sight Out of Mind art exhibition. The exhibition enables hundreds of people with mental health issues to have their voices heard using art, and many of our Hospital Arts programme participants have benefited from involvement in the 13 years the annual show has been running.

The organisers are raising £10,000 to make the 2026 exhibition happen this October. If you can support, please consider donating or sharing the campaign.

The Arts Access Vintage Club had a fascinating trip down memory lane with a guided tour around The Biba Story at Dovecot Studios.

Featuring a dazzling array of archived pieces from the brand that epitomised 60s and 70s fashion, we had a glimpse inside how Biba blossomed to become the world’s first lifestyle label. From the first simple shift dress to glittering couture items, opulent stores and branded merchandise, it was a truly luxurious way to spend an afternoon, and Maja and Margaret looked fabulous in their boas and floppy hats!

Artlink Hospital Arts is teaming up with Morningside Library with a season of events celebrating collaboration and belonging through art. On The Same Shelf features an exhibition of embroidered artworks by Royal Edinburgh patients at The Glasshouses (Friends of the Glasshouses - Artlink), a talk presenting our publication The Book of Belonging, and an embroidery workshop with artist Laura Lees where you can create your own book spine to add to our collective bookshelf.

All are welcome, and no experience is necessary for the workshop!

One Dalkeith was treated to a star-studded lineup of talent, expertly compered by Craig (who did a side-splitting turn himself with impressions of Billy Connolly & Michael Caine) at Dalkeith’s Got Talent. From karaoke to musicals, puppetry, interpretative theatre and poetry, it was a fantastic event showcasing the hard work of Artlink’s Daring Dalkeith Theatre Group, arranged by Amie Burns Walker.

A Makers workshop exploring colour, texture, sounds and threads, Victoria Mitchell’s “Sound and Weaving” brought together creative uses of material and tactile electronic inputs, making for a truly audiovisual experience.

After our customary coffee and scones, the Arts Access Vintage Club had a fascinating visit to the National Museums Scotland's “Giants” exhibition, an interactive and eye-opening look into beasts that once walked the earth. We marvelled at the sheer scale and innovative presentation of the exhibits, from the 16 metre-long Otodus megalodon shark to the Titanoboa, the largest ever snake - thankfully just a model!

Artlink's Theatre for the Fabulous are delighted we've been awarded another year of Creative Breaks, Short Breaks Fund! A year-long fund to give our parent carers regular breaks and support fabulous theatre workshops, skills development and theatre trips! Massive thank you to Shared Care Scotland!

One of our talented artists from the Pavilion project opened his working studio to the public this week for a Party! He creates collage installations covering walls, tables and floors then tidies and dismantles them at the end of every session. This is a snapshot of his amazing creations with a book documenting many more works.
