We help children and young people across Scotland to overcome disability and barriers to learning
CALL Scotland supports children with additional support needs who need assistive and communication technology, and their parents, teachers and therapists. CALL is based at the University of Edinburgh and is funded by Scottish Government and Service Level Agreements with local authorities. A huge thank you to everyone from over 100 Scottish schools and nurseries who joined our 'Accessible Readalong and Singalong' of 'My Pet Star' last week! We loved signing, using visuals and communication technology with you while reading the accessible version of the story and then hearing about all your pets at the end. Bookbug especially enjoyed seeing you all and wishes you a 'Merry Christmas!'
See you all next time🤩Bookbug

Attention all potential AT Makers! 🚨
We've had a last minute cancellation for our Assistive Technology Maker Day tomorrow, so we now have one space available.
This is a free in-person event where you will learn about switch adapting toys, learn about soldering and 3D Printing. By the end of the day you'll have a switch-adapted dancing/singing toy to take back to your school!
Today marks the launch of the Alliance for Inclusive Literacy Education — a new
collaborative network working to ensure that every learner, including those with complex communication needs, is supported with evidence-based and accessible literacy opportunities.
We are proud to be a Founder Member, joining organisations across the UK who share a commitment to high-quality, inclusive literacy practice.
Launching on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we stand with our fellow members in recognising every learner’s right to meaningful literacy instruction — and the importance of working together to raise expectations, strengthen practice, and share expertise.

CALL Scotland is a small unit within the Moray House School of Education and Sport, University of Edinburgh.
We help children and young people across Scotland to overcome disability and barriers to learning created by their environment, and to fulfil their potential.
CALL (Communication, Access, Literacy and Learning) is both a Service and a Research Unit. Service activity is limited by the amount of staff time available, but is open to anyone in Scotland concerned with communication difficulties, particularly in a learning context.
We've been around since 1983 working as a Research and Development centre as well as a working Service unit. Both elements are necessary and important - they inform, enrich and support each other.
