Tess Post - art journaling
Monika and I decided to collaborate on art journaling with a group. With her therapeutic background, we were able to guide people into exploring deeper emotions through creative expression. We experimented with a wide range of techniques — collage, origami, poetry, crayons, pastels, and pens. Together, we refined our approach: learning what questions to ask, how to help clients get the most out of the experience, and how to use art journaling as a way to become more mindful, more self-aware, and more open to creative exploration.
In 2019, we set up the Healing Therapy Centre and began running sessions throughout the autumn. Then Covid arrived. While I continued my work online with the charity in Dunfermline, we sadly had to close our Edinburgh doors for a while.
During that time, I started wondering how I could create a system people could use on their own — something that captured our techniques and showcased different ideas. That led me into researching art therapy and art journaling resources more deeply, planting the seeds for the next stage of our work.
