Portal Leith is part of the ancient King’s Wark complex- a 400 year old building that sits on a site that is centuries older still, situated on Bernard Street, at the very heart of the historic Port of Leith (Port of Leith / Portal Leith 😬)

Starting out 600-ish years ago as a customs house & private royal armoury, the building has played host to historic figures like Anne of Denmark - who married James VI & I, and who stayed here for 5 days after the fateful journey to Scotland that precipitated the Scottish witch trials.

The site survived the Siege of Leith, rebuilds, and centuries of upheaval and change.

It’s little wonder the energy within our magickal little shop is off the charts. We’re so proud to play a part in its long history 🖤

We were treated to a visit by the wee genius that is yesterday, dropping off a huge, incredible new collection of gorgeous wares.

It was a chilled (and chilly) start to our Portal week- we spent the day with the wonderful ; with visits from wee Max, our next door neighbour 🐶 (and his human, our pal, Adele, from .leith ☺️ )and who dropped off some new treasures. We’ve also had a big top-up of ’s glorious Tarot of the Scottish Ghosts- have you got your deck yet? 👻

It’s Thursday! The weather is pretty manky out there, so if you are planning on paying us a visit, wrap up and stay safe in that wind!
