Eating and Drinking Safely: Understanding Dysphagia

Wednesday 15th April 2pm - 3pm

An informative session focused on helping people eat and drink safely when swallowing becomes difficult. The talk will explain what dysphagia is, why it is important and how simple adjustments - such as modifying food textures, thickening drinks and adopting safer mealtime habits - can significantly reduce the risk of choking and chest infections. 🍓🍌🥦

Our Head Chef will also prepare a selection of example dishes demonstrating the different food textures, showing how meals can remain both safe and visually appealing without compromising on taste or presentation. 👨‍🍳

✨Celebration of religious life ✨

On 19 March, the Feast of St Joseph, Sisters Nan Mackinnon and Margaret Pope of the Society of the Sacred Heart renewed their vows of obedience, poverty and chastity, first made in 1951 - marking an incredible 75 years.

A beautiful Mass of Thanksgiving was celebrated by Fr Michael, a Cistercian monk from Nunraw, followed by a small gathering and a welcome cup of tea.

It was a privilege for everyone at Lauder Lodge to be part of such a special and meaningful occasion 💛

Red Nose Day fun at Lauder Lodge! 🔴

Today started bright and early as residents gathered to cheer on Greg James as he cycled past Lauder Lodge on his incredible 1000km journey across the UK, raising funds for Comic Relief 🚴‍♂️👏

Red Nose Day fun at Lauder Lodge! 🔴🎉

What a fun-filled day we’ve had! It started bright and early as residents gathered to cheer on Greg James as he cycled past Lauder Lodge on his incredible 1000km journey across the UK, raising funds for Comic Relief 🚴‍♂️👏

Our team also got involved with a dress-down pyjama day and a “guess the staff in the baby photos” quiz, which brought plenty of laughs and smiles to our residents 😄👶

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and made the day so special – our residents had the best time! ❤️

Happy St Patrick’s Day! ☘️💚

What a fun-filled day we’ve had celebrating with laughter, games, and a little bit of mess! 😄

Our residents enjoyed a lively “Coin Grab” game, testing their speed and bringing out some friendly competition 💰👏

The fun didn’t stop there… we got creative (and very giggly!) making shaving foam beards and adding cheesy Wotsits for a St Patrick’s twist! 🧀✨

Safe to say there were lots of smiles and a few very stylish “beards”on display!

A wonderful day full of laughter, creativity, and great company 🍀

Today we celebrated the wonderful mothers in our care home as part of Mother’s Day. 🌸

Residents enjoyed a lovely afternoon together with sweet treats, flowers, and special moments shared with staff and friends. It was a chance to celebrate the incredible women who have given so much love, care and wisdom over the years. 💐

Thank you to all the amazing mums and mother figures in our home, today is all about you. 💖
