I was invited to attend the first policy meeting of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on UTIs in Westminster this week.
Hosted by and Luke Taylor MP the meeting brought together people from across the UTI community, including patients living with chronic and recurrent UTIs, clinicians, researchers, charities and Parliamentarians.
The group is calling for action in three key areas:
1️⃣ A clinical definition for chronic UTI, which would enable better quality clinical trials
2️⃣ More accurate UTI diagnostic tools
3️⃣ Greater investment in research to develop new treatment options.
For people living with chronic and recurrent UTIs, improvements in recognition, diagnosis and care cannot come soon enough 💙
📣 As someone who works closely with people affected by chronic and recurrent UTIs, and who has lived through chronic UTIs myself, it was encouraging to see MPs willing to amplify the voices of the UTI community in Parliament and advocate for better UTI care 📣
I’m curious, if you could change one thing about UTI care, what would it be?… 💙
