Our hearts are truly full, and our bellies couldn’t take another bite! 🍫🍪

Thank you so much for the incredible generosity and all the lovely gifts and cards deposited across our branches and sites over the past few weeks for our staff.

It’s safe to say our willpower has well and truly disappeared… roll on 2026 and bring on the health kick! 💪 (oh wait.... there's still another 8 days to consume our body weight in calories 👀😆)

Today we celebrate another service milestone, this time we are celebrating Christine, one of our fabulous Care Workers. 💙

Over the past decade, Christine has shown outstanding dedication and kindness in her role. She is especially well known for her wonderful befriending services, using a person centred approach to help people re-engage in the community and tackle social isolation. The relationships she builds make a genuine difference every single day and we are so honoured we get to witness it.

We are so excited to welcome Rachel to the Professional Carers family 😊

Rachel joined us this week as our Recruitment & Administration Coordinator, where she’ll be mainly focusing on recruitment - helping us find kind, caring and compassionate people to join our care team. Rachel will play an important role in helping us continue to grow our workforce and in turn support even more people in our local community. She’ll also be helping out with some admin behind the scenes to keep everything ticking along smoothly! ⏰

We wanted to share a poem recently sent to us, from the next of kin of a service user we support, currently living with dementia.

This honest, moving reflection on love, loss, and eight years “at the end of the bed” is truly captivating.

To anyone walking this path, remember, you’re not alone. 🤝🫶

✨✨✨✨✨
It’s Eight years now, at the end of the bed
At times a silent scream and a quiet desperation in my head.
But the love in my heart, and love in my head
Makes it time well spent, at the end of the bed.

There are days Mum won’t know me, or remember my name
Days can be endless, and mostly the same.
She’s lost in an age, an age gone by
When her parents were here, under the bright blue sky.

I love you so much Mum, I’ve always said
But I’ve laughed and I’ve cried, at the end of the bed.
Alzheimer’s dementia, words we all fear
The Mother that you are, is the reason I’m here.

We’ve talked and talked, there’s nothing unsaid
Through Winter’s and Summer’s, at the end of the bed.

It’s cruel and insidious, and will cut you like a knife
Kindness care and smiles, have always been your life.
My heart is sliced open, by a thousand cuts
You got through one door, whilst another door shuts.

We will look back at life, at the times we all had
And in all life's times, would be wonderful and sad.

To my brother and me, you are our Queen
Because someone like you, is not often seen.
A smile and a hug, the right thing to say

These shields are designed to be carried easily on our carers lanyards, and provide not only a protective barrier during emergency CPR, but help our carers to act quickly and safely when every second counts!

Our dedicated team of managers and staff offer a high quality home care service, to service users of all ages (18 years+) in their own home. These services are available from 30 minute calls to 24 hour live in support and supplied throughout Edinburgh.

We are registered with the Care Inspectorate and during our last inspection received Gradings of ‘5’ [Very Good] in areas of Quality of Care and Support, and Quality of Staffing.

Throughout the last 3 years our carers' distinctive uniforms have become a familiar sight throughout the Almond area and as a team we have worked hard to build and maintain a reputation for high quality and high standards of care.

We recognise it is important to give people choice and control over the care services they receive; we therefore take into account your personal preferences as far as absolutely possible.
