📣 Investing in Skills That Save Lives ⛑️

This week, we put some of our newer team members and those requiring refresher training through their paces, with comprehensive First Aid and Emergency Response training — and they absolutely smashed it of course 💪🔥

At Professional Carers, we believe that delivering high quality care means being prepared for anything. From CPR and wound care to recognising early signs of medical emergencies, our carers practised real-life scenarios to build confidence, quick thinking, and hands-on competence.

🎃 Halloween Fancy Dress Winner Announcement 🎃

We had some spooktacular costumes this year — thank you to everyone who joined in the fun and brought their Halloween spirit to life! 🧙‍♀️🧛‍♂️🧟‍♀️

After much deliberation, we’re thrilled to announce that this year’s winners are our terrifyingly terrific twins, Carers Yasmin and Joanne ! 👯‍♀️ Their matching costumes were simply fang-tastic, and they truly stole the show.

Originally, one winner was set to receive a £100 Amazon voucher, but since this dynamic duo went all-out together, they’ll be sharing the prize — £50 each to treat themselves to something nice! 🎁💸🛍️

Congratulations to our winners, and thank you to everyone who brought such creativity and enthusiasm to our Halloween celebrations!

Julie Boss our MD and judge, had an incredibly tough decision to make — every costume was fantastic, and she felt you all deserved to win 🫶🏻✨

🎆 Bonfire Night: Stay Safe, Stay Caring 🎇

As our communities come together to enjoy Bonfire Night, we’d like to remind everyone to celebrate safely and consider those around you, especially older neighbours and those in our care.

Loud noises, bright flashes, and sudden bangs can be unsettling or distressing for some older people, pets, and individuals with sensory sensitivities. Please take a moment to check in on those who may find this evening difficult — a simple act of kindness can make a big difference.

We also want to say a huge thank you to our hard working care staff who will be working through the night, keeping people safe, comfortable, and reassured while others celebrate 💙

The moon was high, the pumpkins were glowing, and the Professional Carers team was ready for a night of frightful fun! 🕸️👻

But between the scares and the snacks, one thing stood out, the heart behind the horror. Because no matter the night, Professional Carers know how to bring people together and make memories that last long after the magic fades 🧡✨

A huge thank you to everyone who took part across all branches, sites and roles — including Housing Partners Magenta Living and Torus who helped coordinate events within Extra Care sites.

🎃 Halloween is Creeping Up - Are you getting involved 🎃

Don’t forget that our ‘Best Dressed Halloween Competition’ is back with one lucky employee winning a £100 high street voucher for their spooktacular effort 🛍️🤑

Let’s make this Halloween one to remember by bringing some eerie excitement to your service users and residents — and why not get them involved too? 🕸️

How to Enter:

✅ Who can join: Everyone! This includes all community and extra care teams, supervisors, on-call staff, and office teams.

📋 What to do: Over the Halloween weekend, dig out your costumes and face paint, and dress up while completing your duties. The more creative, the better — think “zombie apocalypse” "possessed carer" or any other hair-raising idea you can conjure up!

🤳🏻 Share your scare: Snap a selfie with your favourite service users for us to use on social media (with their permission, of course!) throughout your working day and send it through to us via our on-call no later than Monday 03rd November.

🏆 Judging: Our Managing Director and Owner, Julie, will choose the winner, and the announcement will be made the weekend commencing 03/11/2025.

A quick reminder 🧤

PPE remains mandatory at all times, and supervisors will be carrying out their usual “haunting” checks to ensure compliance 👻

Please make sure your costume can be worn safely with your PPE, a little creativity may be required! We’d also like to remind everyone that some of our more vulnerable service users may prefer not to take part in the festivities.

Please be mindful and respectful of their wishes if you’re attending in costume, the last thing we would want is to upset anybody.

🕐 Don’t forget — the clocks go back this weekend! 🕐

At 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, 26 October 2025, the clocks will go back one hour, marking the end of British Summer Time.

The time change can also be confusing for some older people, especially those living with dementia. Please take a moment to:

✅ Check clocks are set correctly
✅ Offer reassurance if the change causes confusion
✅ Keep routines calm and consistent
