Dundas Veterinary Group Welcome to Dundas Veterinary Group, an independent and dynamic veterinary practice in Edinburgh Practices at Dundas St, Granton Rd, Lochend Rd Sth, Oxgangs Rd

Independent Local Caring Friendly Veterinary Practice, Providing your pet with the Highest Standard of Service.

30/03/2026

Exciting news for our community! πŸŽ‰

As of 20th March 2026 Dundas Veterinary Group is now employee owned.

This means that the people who care for your pets every day now have a real stake in the future of the practice and firmly secures our independence for the future! πŸŽ‰

Dundas Veterinary Group have been proud to look after Edinburgh pets for nearly 50 years, with some of our current team members celebrating nearly 30 years in the practice.

Emma Sharp joined the practice in 2008 and became a partner with Audrey Fearn and Sheila Cranna in 2012. Peter became a Director in 2017 and the practice became family owned.
Emma and Peter have always strived to keep the independence of the practice and made the exciting decision to become an Employee Owned Practice.

As an employee-owned business we can continue to focus on what matters mostβ€”long-term relationships, consistent care, and putting pets before profits. πŸ₯³πŸ†

With the whole team invested in the practice, we can continue building a service that prioritises compassion, continuity, and the highest standards of veterinary care. πŸ’•

The day to day running of the practice will have the same familiar faces at your local branches.
Peter Sharp will be joined by Rhiannon Moore, Will Chadwick and Matthew Saunders as company directors. πŸ’ͺ
Emma Sharp will step back from her management role to concentrate on clinical work focusing on her passion for geriatric care and chronic pain management. 🩺

Thank you for trusting us with your pets. We are proud to retain our independence and be part of this community, and becoming employee owned means we can keep caring for your animals with the same dedication for many years to come. 🐾

This is lovely Amy enjoying herself in cat ward after a heart scan. We perform heart scans to measure the chambers of the heart and to assess the way it functions. Before and after procedures patients stay in their own areas in either our dog or cat ward. We try to make the wards as stress free as possible with lots of cuddles and classical music on to help our furry friends stay happy and calm. We are glad Amy was so relaxed during her stay!πŸˆβ€β¬›πŸŽΆπŸ’•

🦷 February is national pet dental health month so we will be focusing some posts on looking after our furry friends teeth🦷
Dental hygiene and management is very important as is recognising the signs of dental disease. Buffy (who is lovely nurse Kat’s dog) came in for a dental procedure with us after plaque was noted to be building up on her teeth. Plaque is a sticky layer of bacteria and food particles which coat the teeth. Plaque can then turn into tartar which is a harder brown substance. The bacteria in plaque/tartar can also spread under the gum line. When we see this building up we usually advise a dental procedure where we use ultrasonic scaling to remove the plaque/tartar and clean under the gum line. Animals need to be under anaesthetic for this procedure as they need to be completely still for us to be able to clean disease under the gum line. We also need to make sure all the teeth are clean and assessed properly. Once we have removed the plaque build up we assess the teeth to determine if there is any damage or recession that would mean extractions are required. Swipe along to see Buffy’s before and after pictures of her teeth after scaling 🌟

This week we are celebrating the service of some of our lovely nurses! 😍

Jo, Kat and Anne have been working with us for 10 wonderful years and we couldn't be more thankful for their dedication and care for their patients, the team and our clients 😺 🐢

They, like all of our nurses, help your pets through anaesthetic monitoring, wound checks, dressing changes, dental procedures and of course provide lots of love, cuddles and biscuits πŸͺ

Here's to many more years of loving your pets. πŸ’•

(Jo and Kat also received some lovely flowers and fizz for their hard work πŸ₯‚ 🌹)
