Another PB without knowing…..

Another deadlift PB for the big man. Shaun doesn’t like to know what’s on the bar until he’s lifted it, I could tell from his first couple lifts that the PB was flying up! 💪

150kg incoming!!

“Spanish hands Billy”….

DR Inclusive Golf

First golf lesson- Fundamentals

Grip ✅
Stance ✅
Posture ✅

= Spanish hands Billy

Billy has spina bifida and has been coming to the gym for a few years now. He has worked with David on a lot of strengthening and in particular tackling the stairs at home.

Billy has recently started golf lessons with Ross, having never played before, and the videos are of his first lesson last week. This has also added a new dimension to his training in the gym 💪.

Make it fun!

Right from her first session Kirsten really enjoyed throwing the tennis balls. She also loves colours and counting so we combined this with the coloured targets and made it into a game.

This helps with Kirsten’s session as after every exercise we will go back to throwing the balls and being silly and the routine really helps as she knows what is coming next.

Throwing the tennis balls is also really good for her hand eye coordination and encouraging her to sit up tall and look for the targets.

Adapted fitness classes!

Our adapted fitness classes are for disabled people and people with long term health conditions and offer a mix of cardio and resistance training tailored to the needs of each individual in the class. The classes also offer a chance for peer support or as we prefer to call it “a cuppa and a spraff”.

Come along and trial for free! Get in touch to book.

Stroke rehab…

Since Fiona’s stroke we have worked a lot on gait training which involves strengthening her legs, improving balance and increasing endurance to improve her ability to stand and walk safely.

Here she is pushing 40kg and pulling 60kg!

Fiona is a great laugh to have in the gym and gets stuck in both with the training and the banter! Let’s just say she holds her own in both 😂.

Amazing progress 👏🏻

It’s our birthday and competition time!

4 years ago we opened Scotland’s first gym for disabled people in loanhead! 4 years and what a journey.

Thank you to everyone that has crossed our door, shared a post, left a comment or a like. We appreciate you all.

As a thanks we are giving away the choice of one of our services as a prize to three people who like and share this post (and like our page 😉). The winner can choose from-

The competition is open to anyone but the 1-2-1 PT and golf session prizes are for disabled people and people with long term health conditions only (discrimination I know 🤣)

40kg double!

Colin with a 40kg double on the deadlift 💪. We work a lot on Colin’s strength and stability to help with his gait and balance as this helps prevent as many falls!

Loves a pull up!

Here is Steven preforming a set of 10 pull ups! He also likes to remind everyone that he basically does it all with one arm! 💪

It’s also his playlist that’s on…honest 👀

Need to make the sled heavier?? Just add the PT on!!

Rebecca came to the gym to focus on getting fitter and losing some weight and has been working with Olivia for a couple of months. It quickly become apparent that she is very strong so they have been using that to help her reach her goals. Here she is pulling 280kg!

Becca also really benefits from being able to control the environment in the gym as the noise and bright lights in commercial gyms was overwhelming but here she is able to set things up to make her feel comfortable to get the most out of her sessions.

The importance of maintenance….

Maintaining the boss’ upper body strength is key to her maintaining her independence.

The first video is Mairi pressing 25kg for one in 2020 and the second she is pressing 25kg for three in 2025 💪.
