I started to heal when I realised how much of my day I was moving through as if I was in danger.
The other day I was walking in the forest and noticed I was rushing, walking fast, shoulders slightly braced, breath shallow, even though there was nowhere to get to.
The moment I realised, I slowed my pace.
I felt my feet on the ground.
I let my breath drop lower.
And my body softened almost immediately.
So many of us live in a subtle state of survival without realising it, jaw clenched, breath held, nervous system always scanning. It might have helped us cope or stay productive once, but over time it pulls us away from presence, ease, and connection.
Slowing down isn’t giving up.
It’s communicating with our nervous system.
It’s how we teach the body that it’s safe to be here now.
So take a deep breath, relax your shoulders and soften your jaw.
Let this be your reminder to slow down. 🤍
