A lot of our regular work involves transporting disabled children and young people - our drivers and passenger assistants often describe working with these passengers as one of the highlights of their job.
We are so excited to take part in this research led by Community Transport Association and ensure we are always doing everything we can to provide a quality experience!
We’re pleased to share that CTA’s Creating Connections research, funded by Motability Foundation, is moving into phase two.
This project explores how Community Transport can better support disabled children and young people, shaped by the voices of families and lived experience.
Following a formal selection process, we’ll be working with eight lead operators across the UK to co-produce practical guidance and community transport solutions alongside disabled children, young people and their families.
The lead operators are:
• LCTS (Lothian Community Transport Services)
• Lagan Valley Rural Transport
• Dial A Ride Denbighshire Ltd. New
• Calne community transport
• Community Transport Sussex
• FarmAbility
• Adapt North East
• WATBus
We’ll also be working with Disabled People’s Organisations to help ensure the research is inclusive and that the solutions developed are practical and meaningful.
We can’t wait to start this next phase!
