Its been quite a while since I posted. I have taken some time away to process the loss of someone hugely important to me. Having that time away has allowed me to process my emotions, thoughts and whole sense of self. I now feel ready and resilient enough to re-engage. Without this time to go through the highs and lows of grief, to re-adjust myself to a new way of being, I am sure I would not feel as ready to go forward as I do now.

I was considering...when we are dealing with issues that are uncomfortable, often we can hold things in, push them down deep, saying 'well there's a lot worse off than me', not deal with 'stuff' and allow ourselves to feel rubbish while never really allowing the 'issue' to come up, be dealt with and processed.

My recent experience has shown me that if we give ourselves permission to accept and process the highs & lows of what we are experiencing, healing and peace come much quicker.

As World Mental Health Day approaches this Saturday I am curious about how people view their mental health. How is your mental health? Do you know how to get help if you need it? Fear creates anxiety. The media are very good at producing mass fear at the moment. On a daily basis you can hardly turn on the TV or radio or check social media without reading headlines about the "second wave" or that we are "heading for lockdown". These messages are sensational but they are also scary. As I have chatted to friends and family over the last week I feel the sense of panic around Covid is starting to creep back in and create anxious feelings for people. Try to remember it is really important to acknowledge that this may be making you anxious and take a step back. Watch less news, stay off social media if it helps and do something that you really enjoy. Just a walk in the fresh air or a coffee with a friend can really help to clear the mind. Fear creates anxiety. The media are very good at producing mass fear at the moment.
