Plant a Flower Day at Rivermede Court

Even a blustery breeze couldn’t stop us today — after all, there’s no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothing.

Our residents rolled up their sleeves and planted over 100 bulbs, each one a little promise of colour and joy waiting to bloom. For many, gardening has been a lifelong passion, and this gentle, hands‑on activity offered a beautiful opportunity to reconnect with something deeply meaningful.

At Rivermede Court, we believe that truly great wellbeing comes from understanding our residents — their stories, their interests, and the activities that bring them purpose. Today was a perfect reminder of how powerful it is when we honour those wishes.

We can’t wait to watch these flowers grow, just as we continue to nurture moments that matter every day.

What an amazing turnout for Robyn’s Networking Breakfast this morning! ☕🥐

A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to come along and support the event. It was wonderful to see so many people from our local community together, sharing ideas and making new connections.
A special thank you to Ben Spencer for taking the time to join us, deliver such an interesting talk, and answer questions from the group. It was greatly appreciated by everyone who attended.

And of course, a big thank you to the amazing Rivermede team for putting on such a fantastic spread! 👏

Today our home transformed into a mini science fair — and what an explosion of fun it was!

Kayleigh, our brilliant Wellbeing & Lifestyle Coordinator, led the way with hands‑on experiments that had everyone curious, laughing, and getting stuck in. Our residents became scientists for the day, exploring how things work and even creating their very own lava lamps 🌈💡

It was a fantastic evening celebrating the incredible people in our community. Robyn had the pleasure of presenting the Young Sportsperson of the Year Award, which was a real honour. 🏆

We met so many inspiring individuals and it truly reminds us what a wonderful and supportive community we have here in Runnymede.

🎯🤣 What a brilliantly busy day at Rivermede Court Care Home! 🤣🎯

This morning our amazing carer Tilly and our Activity Lead surprised everyone by stepping into a target suit — and the laughter that followed could be heard down the corridors! Our residents were armed with specially designed tennis balls and ready for action… but little did they know what we had planned for them.

The moment our outstanding team walked in wearing the suit, our residents were in stitches. We honestly haven’t seen them laugh so much — pure joy, pure fun, and pure Rivermede energy.

At Rivermede Court, our activity programme is all about balance: fun, creativity, physical wellbeing, and moments that lift the soul.

⛳️ A huge shout‑out to Paul from GolfStarz North Surrey for another fantastic golf session! This wonderful activity boosts hand‑eye coordination, encourages gentle movement, builds confidence, and brings so much laughter. The perfect blend of skill‑building and feel‑good fun.

Taking place from 2pm – 4pm at Rivermede Court, it’s a wonderful opportunity to relax, enjoy a great film, and spend time with friends from the local community.
As part of our Year of Celebrating Cultures, this month we’re shining a spotlight on Ireland 🇮🇪. To mark the occasion, we’ll be showing the romantic comedy Leap Year — the perfect feel-good film set against the beautiful Irish countryside.

📚✨ A Magical Intergenerational Moment at Rivermede Court ✨📚

What a truly magical morning we shared on Thursday with our wonderful friends from Playbox Nursery. The moment the children arrived — dressed as their favourite characters from their favourite books — our residents lit up with joy. The room was filled with colour, imagination, and pure excitement.

Together, they read stories, exchanged tales, and connected in the most natural and heart‑warming way. Watching two generations come together through books, laughter, and curiosity was a moment we will treasure for a very long time.

💛 Our residents enjoyed it so much that they immediately asked if we could do it again. And of course, we said yes!

We are delighted to announce that Rivermede Court and Playbox Nursery will now be hosting a monthly intergenerational book club. A beautiful new tradition is beginning — one that celebrates learning, storytelling, and the joy of shared moments across generations.

Today we celebrated the incredible power, resilience, and brilliance of women — past and present. Our home was filled with stories, laughter, music, and the kind of joy that reminds us why this day matters.

We spent the morning reminiscing about remarkable women who changed the course of history, sharing memories, and honouring those who paved the way with courage and determination.

🎵 The celebrations continued with a musical quiz that quickly turned into a full‑on sing‑along and dancing — a beautiful reminder of how uplifting it is when we come together in community and celebration.

💛 We are deeply grateful for every woman across every department who brings passion, strength, and loving care to our residents every single day. Your dedication shapes our home, enriches lives, and inspires us all.

To show our appreciation, we surprised everyone with a small token of gratitude — a heartfelt reminder of how valued and cherished they are.

Today at Rivermede Court Care Home we are celebrating National Pie Week 🥧

Our chefs prepared a delicious, hearty beef pie with golden, flaky pastry, followed by a comforting apple pie crumble for dessert – the perfect combination of savoury and sweet!

National Pie Week, organised by the British Pie Awards, celebrates one of Britain’s most loved traditional dishes. From classic steak and ale to chicken and mushroom, and from fruity favourites to creamy custard-filled delights, pies have been at the heart of British kitchens for centuries.

There’s something wonderfully comforting about a warm pie – it brings back fond memories, sparks conversation around the table, and is always best enjoyed in good company. Today has certainly been filled with smiles (and seconds!) 😋🥧
