After nearly 8 busy months at Hopeman East Beach we thought it was about time we introduced ourselves…..

OUR STORY
Happiest in nature, whether it be in their garden, walking, cycling, wild swimming, or in their campervan usually pointing west, Jo and Malcolm head up FYRHÙS SAUNA.

After a long career in physical education and yoga teaching, Jo is passionate about gathering people together and promoting wellbeing. Over the past few years she has enhanced this by growing and selling flowers locally in a sustainable and pesticide free environment (now retired)! Everything Jo has done she has had the wellbeing of others at the heart.

Malcolm, with a background in the motor industry and campervan conversion (formerly creator and owner of Moray Firth Camper and Caravan hire) works his magic to make the seemingly impossible, possible.

Together their skills compliment each other to provide a business which merges functionality with heart and soul.

As regular sauna/wild swimming participants Jo and Malcolm became excited by the growing culture of both in Scotland in recent years. This, together with knowledge of the enormous health benefits of CONTRAST THERAPY (sweat from the sauna heat, interspersed by cold water immersion) they found, and converted a large vintage horse box into a stylish wood fired sauna. Their aim – to share their findings and enthusiasm with others in and around their community.

So FYRHÙS SAUNA, immersed in nature and the elements was born and is certainly alive & kicking!

🔥WE HAVE EXCITING NEWS🔥

We are very honoured to share with you that we have been accepted as an
‘OPERATOR MEMBER’ of the British Sauna Society…we feel very proud of this status 🔥

Thank you to the society for setting the standards and supporting authentic sauna culture across the UK.

We really love our sauna business but it’s success is due to all our amazing sauna bathers and our fabulous sauna hosts who look after everyone - we really couldn’t do this without you all 🔥
From day one back in July 2025 you have continued to come, booking private or a communal seat. The latter being a great way to meet other like-minded folk and make new friends.

Next session is 9.30am 8th March for INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY
20% of all profits taken on that day will be donated to a local charity (to be announced)

Thank you to .pat for this beautiful photo taken last weekend. Kirstie is raising money for the by taking a cold water dip and sometimes a sauna every day in the month of February. You are amazing .pat and we wish you the best for the rest of the month and hope you raise lots of dosh! If anyone feels moved to throw in a few pennies for Kirstie I’m sure she’d be delighted and so would Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust

The ‘golden brown’ of the setting sun on the dunes remind us that we are moving into lighter days and spring is upon us.

As the day light increases and the sunsets get later we will be adding on more evening sessions so keep an eye on our social media for updates
