Shockwave Therapy – your questions answered ✨

If you’ve been dealing with stubborn tendon or soft tissue pain that just isn’t settling, shockwave therapy may be an effective part of your recovery.

These slides cover:
• What shockwave therapy is
• Who it’s suitable for
• Common conditions we treat
• When it isn’t appropriate
• What it feels like
• How many sessions are usually needed
• Why it works best as part of a wider rehab plan

Shockwave Therapy pricing:
💷 £75 – 45-minute initial assessment including your first shockwave treatment
💷 £50 – 20–30 minute follow-up shockwave sessions

Most people require a course of 3–6 sessions, combined with physiotherapy, education and a progressive exercise programme.

Shockwave is not a quick fix — it’s a tool within a wider treatment plan, guided by a physiotherapist.

Physiotherapy at home – support when getting to clinic is difficult 💜

We understand that coming into clinic isn’t always possible. Whether it’s due to pain, mobility issues, recent surgery, illness or reduced confidence, home visit physiotherapy can be the right solution — either short term or longer term.

Our physiotherapists can visit you at home to provide professional assessment, treatment and rehabilitation in a familiar, comfortable environment.

Home visits are ideal if you’re:
🏠 Struggling with mobility or transport
🦵 Recovering from surgery or injury
🧠 Managing a long-term condition
⏳ Needing short-term support until you’re able to attend clinic
💪 Looking to regain confidence and independence in your own home

We can arrange a physiotherapist to visit from any of our three clinics, covering local and surrounding areas:
📍 Cleckheaton
📍 Elland
📍 Queensbury

Our aim is always to support your recovery and, where appropriate, help you transition back into clinic-based treatment when you’re ready.

If you or a loved one would benefit from physiotherapy at home, please get in touch — we’re happy to advise.

💧 Hydrotherapy in Elland – Movement When Land-Based Exercise Feels Impossible 💧

For many people living with long-term conditions or severe injuries, land-based exercise can feel overwhelming, painful, or simply not possible.

That’s where hydrotherapy can make all the difference.

The warm water provides:
✔️ Reduced load on joints and injured tissues
✔️ Pain relief and muscle relaxation
✔️ Support and confidence to move safely
✔️ Improved mobility, strength, and circulation

Hydrotherapy allows movement without fear, making it an ideal starting point for people with:
• Long-term musculoskeletal conditions
• Persistent pain
• Neurological conditions
• Post-surgical or complex injuries
• Reduced mobility or confidence with exercise

👥 Growing our hydrotherapy team
We’re delighted that Tyler is currently being trained by Olivia to also deliver these much-needed hydrotherapy sessions, helping us support more people in our local community.

💷 Session prices
• 30-minute hydrotherapy session – £80
• 60-minute hydrotherapy session – £164

✨ Shockwave Therapy: Why Results Take Time ✨

Shockwave therapy is very different from our usual hands-on treatments.

Manual therapy often gives quick pain relief by calming the nervous system and improving movement.
Shockwave works in a different way.

👉 Shockwave is pro-inflammatory.
That’s a good thing.

Many long-standing tendon problems are stuck in a failed healing cycle. Shockwave deliberately creates a controlled inflammatory response to reset the healing process, increase blood flow, and stimulate tissue repair.

💥 What does this mean for you?

• You may feel sore for a few days after treatment
• Pain relief is usually not immediate
• This doesn’t mean it’s not working

⏱️ Typical timeline
• First few days: soreness / sensitivity is normal
• 1–2 weeks: inflammation settles
• 3–6 weeks: most people notice meaningful pain reduction
• 6–12 weeks: ongoing tendon repair and strengthening

This is why shockwave is a time-based treatment, not a quick fix.

🧠 The goal isn’t short-term relief
It’s long-term healing, stronger tissue, and better load tolerance.

If you’ve been told “nothing’s changed” after one session — that’s expected. The real benefits happen weeks later, not days.

If you’re unsure whether shockwave is right for you, speak to one of our physios — we’re always happy to guide you 💬

💙 Feeling low this January? You’re not alone. 💙

The third week of January is often called the most depressing week of the year — and it’s easy to see why.

❄️ The weather is cold and dark
💸 Christmas feels far away but the bills don’t
🎯 New Year motivation can start to fade
😴 Energy levels are low and routines feel harder

If you’re feeling flat, unmotivated, or more emotional than usual — that’s completely normal at this time of year.

✨ Small things that really help:

• 🌤️ Daylight exposure – even a short walk outside helps regulate mood
• 🚶‍♀️ Gentle movement – you don’t need intense workouts; consistency matters
• 🛌 Protect your sleep – routine over perfection
• 🥗 Fuel your body – regular meals help stabilise energy and mood
• 🤍 Lower expectations – January is about recovery, not reinvention
• 💬 Talk to someone – sharing how you feel lightens the load

You don’t need to “push through” or feel positive all the time.
Sometimes the goal is simply getting through winter kindly.

Be gentle with yourself. Spring will come 😘 🌱

Behind every great clinic is an amazing office manager 💜

We’d like to shine a light on Becky, our fantastic Office Manager, who works tirelessly behind the scenes to keep Physiotherapy Works running smoothly.

Becky goes above and beyond every single day — managing our diaries, keeping appointments running efficiently, and making sure our booking system works seamlessly for both patients and clinicians. Her attention to detail, organisation and thorough approach ensure our clinics operate like clockwork.

Most importantly, Becky plays a huge role in making sure our patients feel supported, informed and looked after from their very first contact with us. From bookings to queries, she’s often the friendly voice and problem-solver making everything easier.

We honestly couldn’t do what we do without her — thank you, Becky, for everything you do to keep our team organised and our patients happy!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ More fantastic Google reviews for Craig!

We’ve been delighted to receive some brilliant recent feedback for Craig, and it comes as no surprise to us.

“Craig was an excellent physio and was friendly, helpful and explained the issues I had with my knee. He carried out a thorough examination, provided clear rehab exercises (with videos) and resolved the injury. I’m delighted with the service.”

“I had a great experience at Physiotherapy Works while preparing for my ACL reconstruction surgery. Craig was really encouraging, optimistic and kind. I would recommend him to everyone!”

Craig has been a valued member of the Physiotherapy Works team since July 2022, and since joining he has consistently delivered high-quality, patient-focused care. His thorough assessments, clear explanations and supportive approach make a real difference to recovery outcomes.

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to leave a review — and a huge well done to Craig for continuing to provide outstanding physiotherapy care.
