💙 A Fond Farewell and a New Chapter for Dr MacDonald 💙

This week marks Dr MacDonald’s last full week with us as a GP Partner, after an incredible journey at our practice since 1994. He is deeply appreciated by everyone – patients and colleagues alike – and it’s very sad to see him step down from this role.

We are delighted, however, that he isn’t leaving completely! Dr MacDonald will be taking a few weeks off and will return in mid-April, working two days a week (Monday & Tuesday) as a salaried GP.

We want to thank him for his decades of dedication, care, and commitment to our practice. 💛 We are so grateful he will still be part of our practice family, even if it’s just a couple of days a week!

Please join us in wishing Dr MacDonald all the very best as he embarks on this next chapter. 🌟

Meet the Team – Rachael 👩‍⚕️✨

My name is Rachael, and I am a GP Assistant at YRGP 🩺. I have been part of the team for over 12 years, during which time I have developed extensive experience in both clinical and administrative support for the GPs 📋💻.

I particularly value the variety within my role, as it allows me to contribute across different areas of patient care 🤝. I enjoy working directly with patients, supporting them throughout their appointments and helping to ensure they feel comfortable and well cared for 💙. Building rapport with patients is an important part of my work, and I take pride in creating a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone I meet 😊🏥.

I am also committed to my professional development 📚 and enjoy learning new skills to enhance my role. I am keen to continue expanding my knowledge and experience, with a view to progressing further in my career while continuing to provide high-quality support to both patients and the wider clinical team 🌟🤍.

🌍 World TB Day – 24 March

Today we mark World TB Day, raising awareness about tuberculosis (TB) and the global efforts to end it.

TB is preventable and treatable, yet it still affects millions of people worldwide every year. Early diagnosis, access to treatment, and continued public awareness are key to stopping its spread.

Let’s work together to:
✔️ Raise awareness
✔️ Reduce stigma
✔️ Support those affected
✔️ Promote early testing and treatment

Every action brings us closer to a TB-free world. 💙

🌟 Meet the Team – Emma! 🌟

Emma is one of our Admin Apprentices and has recently started her Business Administrative Level 3 Apprenticeship. She has been part of the team for nearly two years and continues to grow in her role every day.

Emma’s favourite part of the job is working with Child Health, especially booking babies and children in for their immunisations and contacting families about outstanding immunisations to help keep our youngest patients protected. 👶💉

As a training practice, we are committed to supporting our team to learn, develop, and progress in their roles, and Emma is a great example of this. 🌱

👋 Meet the Team!

Hi, I’m Georgia!

I’ve been part of the team for nearly 5 years and currently work as the Admin Team Coordinator. I actually started here as an apprentice, and it’s been amazing to grow within the practice.

My role focuses on supporting the admin team and helping ensure the smooth running of day-to-day tasks across the practice.

One of my favourite parts of the role is supporting our elderly patients. Recently, I introduced a 100th Birthday Card initiative, where we send a special card to patients celebrating their 100th birthday — a small gesture to help them feel valued and celebrated on such a special milestone! 🎉🎂

I’m proud to be part of a team that cares so much about our patients and community.

Meet Becky – Our Practice Manager 👩‍💼

Becky stepped into the Practice Manager role in March 2024, but her journey with us began 12 years ago when she joined as an admin apprentice 🌱. Since then, she’s grown through several roles — Admin Team Leader, Assistant to Practice Manager, and now Practice Manager.

While working full‑time, Becky completed a Business Management Degree Apprenticeship 🎓, showing incredible dedication and drive.

She loves working with our fantastic team, interacting with patients, and the fact that no two days are ever the same. The variety of the role keeps her energised, and her passion for the practice shines through every day 💛.

We’re so proud to have Becky leading our team.

🌟 Huge Congratulations to Caitlyn! 🌟

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate Caitlyn, our Admin Apprentice, who has now successfully completed her Level 3 Medical Business Administration Apprenticeship.

Caitlyn has been with us for two years, and in that time she has shown outstanding dedication, professionalism, and a real commitment to learning and growing within her role. Completing this qualification is a fantastic milestone, and the skills she has developed will continue to strengthen the practice — supporting smoother processes, improving patient experience, and enhancing the overall service we provide.

Well done, Caitlyn. Your hard work makes a real difference, and we’re so proud to have you as part of our team.

FACTS vs MYTHS: CERVICAL SMEARS 💗
We’re sharing the truth about cervical screening and clearing up common myths. Smear tests play a vital role in detecting early cell changes, often long before symptoms appear. Early detection means early treatment, which is one of the most effective ways to prevent cervical cancer and protect long‑term health.

We have March availability and have added extra smear appointments to support as many patients as possible. If you’re unsure whether you’re due, please contact the practice and our admin team can check for you.
