🎉HAPPY 6 YEAR STOMAVERSARY POPPY AND GUCCI🎉

6 years ago, Poppy had her ACE removed and her entire large colon removed and her Ileostomy bag fitted. It was one of the longest, scariest days and since then we have had another scary episode with a refashioning of her stoma last year.
Her stoma has definitely improved some aspects of her health. It will not cure her stomach and bowel issues or her mobility issues or even her mental health but it has helped in other areas.
We are so proud of her. She hasn't accepted as well as some others have, rarely shows her tummy and there are plenty of times she wishes she didn't have a stoma. But she isn't ashamed of her stoma , Gucci.

🎉Happy 6 year Stomaversary Gucci 🎉

Sorry for the long post
* Invisible doesn’t mean imaginary *
Not all illnesses are visible. Not all pain leaves a bruise. Not all battles look like battles.
Mental health struggles.
Autoimmune flares.
Joint and muscle pain that makes simple tasks exhausting.
Gut and gastrointestinal disorders that control daily life.
Heart conditions that don’t “look” serious from the outside.
Invisible illnesses are real. They are heavy. And they are often carried quietly.
I’m tired of the judgment.
Tired of the side-eyes when someone needs to sit down.
Tired of the “but you look fine.”
Tired of people minimizing what they don’t understand.
Conditions like depression, anxiety, and PTSD don’t show up on an X-ray.
Chronic illnesses like fibromyalgia, lupus, arthritis, IBS, Crohn’s, POTS, heart arrhythmias, and so many others don’t come with warning labels. But they change lives every single day.
Just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it isn’t there.
Just because someone smiles doesn’t mean they aren’t struggling.
Just because a body looks “healthy” doesn’t mean it feels that way.
Instead of judging what you can’t see, choose compassion.
Instead of questioning someone’s limitations, trust them.
Instead of assuming, listen.
Invisible doesn’t mean imaginary.
It means people are fighting battles you may never fully understand.
Let’s normalize empathy.
Let’s raise awareness.
Let’s do better. 💛

Super proud of this one, dressing on toes changed not even a flinch, and they dont look very nice at the moment. When I tell people she has a high pain threshold people actually dont believe me how much she can handle!

She literally is the bravest of them all! Toe nail surgery on both feet with just local anesthetic!! I am so proud ❤️

Hi, I am Danni, the founder of Blades Down.

I want to take a moment to introduce myself and explain why this work matters so much to me.

Blades Down was created from lived experience, not statistics or headlines. I have seen first hand the impact that violence, trauma and lack of support can have on young people, families and whole communities. Once you witness that, you cannot unsee it. You either turn away or you step up. I chose to step up.

I do this work because I genuinely care about young people. I believe they deserve safety, opportunity, guidance and adults who show up for them without judgement. I believe early support, honest conversations and practical life skills can change outcomes. I believe prevention is always more powerful than punishment.

For me, Blades Down has never been about payment or recognition. I do not receive any payment for this work. It is something I do because I am passionate about supporting young people and helping create change where it is needed most. I pour all of my free time into this work, often sacrificing socialising and self care, because the thought of a young person becoming a victim of violence is something that stays with me and motivates everything I do.

Every workshop, every conversation and every project is driven by the same goal. To support, empower and protect young people and to give them the tools to make positive choices for their lives.

Thank you to everyone who supports Blades Down, believes in the work and stands alongside us. This is only possible because people care enough to be part of the change.

I think alot of people dont understand chronic pain and how it can effect so much. I know there are people who are in Poppys life who dont understand this, who think what you cant see doesnt matter, but it does. Invisible doesnt mean not real!
