Changes have been made to the cervical screening programme (smears) in England — but what do they mean for you?
For most people aged 25–64, if high-risk HPV hasn’t been found recently, smears will now be every 5 years (instead of 3). This brings us in line with Scotland and Wales.
Understandably, this change has raised some concerns — but it’s based on strong evidence and expert guidance. Screening remains safe and effective.
