What a wonderfully romantic week we’ve had at The Orchards! ❤️

We began with a beautiful morning singing with the All In Sound choir at the Beet Club — always such a joy. Our competitive streak came out during a lively game of Scrabble, and we enjoyed our peaceful monthly church service.

Creativity was flowing as we made Valentine’s decorations and we even put together our own little gift bags filled with Love Hearts to hand out on Valentine’s Day — such a sweet touch. Thankyou to our amazing activity assistant Sarah for that sweet idea! and Ginny was delighted to return to her PossABILITY exercise group, which she always says she loves. We shared plenty of laughs during our Valentine’s quiz, too.

A real highlight was our outing to Ely Cathedral for The King’s School musical concert — absolutely fantastic from start to finish. We rounded off the celebrations with Valentine’s bingo and a lovely morning of flower arranging, chatting about the people and things we love.

Last week, we celebrated the second birthday of our cheeky friend Percy the dog.

We had the most amazing evening at Ely Cathedral last week for the Space show by Luxmuralis. The whole cathedral was transformed with stunning moving visuals, and seeing such a beautiful building lit up in that way was absolutely spectacular.

Our very own Pam has quite the stellar background — she once worked in the Department of Astrophysics as a senior secretary specialising in radio astronomy. How amazing is that! 🌟

Our big warm‑up party was an absolute blast! We danced, we sang, and we laughed all afternoon. A huge thank you to our wonderful banjo man for creating such a lovely atmosphere and keeping everyone entertained. We also celebrated the fantastic Frank who celebrated his 94th birthday with us!

A big well done to all our amazing staff who helped make the occasion so special. It was lovely to welcome families, friends ,staff and residents for such a wonderful afternoon.

What a wonderful week it has been! We started off with a fantastic visit from King’s School, who entertained us with performances from some of their talented young musicians. We then enjoyed a showing of The Great Escaper with Michael Caine and Glenda Jackson, which was very well loved.❤️

We had a great afternoon with Peggy making our own geodes!

A coffee trip into town brought plenty of smiles, and our Scottish picture bingo for Burns Night had everyone laughing. We also had a great game of Scrabble — well done to our winner! David celebrated his birthday in style with a delicious cake surrounded by family and friends.☕️

Our lovely activity assistant, Sarah, has refreshed our interest table with a reminiscence theme, and it looks absolutely wonderful. We also began our Hearts Across the UK campaign, sending Valentine’s cards to care homes across the country to spread a little love and warmth.💚

We’ll be finishing the week with a cosy Knit and Natter tomorrow morning, followed by a trip to The Maltings for the Mayor’s Chinese New Year event.

What a week it’s been!

What a fantastic week we’ve had!

We kicked things off with Bird Picture Bingo to celebrate the start of the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch, and the energy didn’t stop there.

Our Scrabble showdown was a hit, with Mary proudly taking home the trophy — congratulations to our Scrabble champion, Mary!

We tested our brains with a quiz on old sayings and proverbs, then enjoyed a peaceful morning by the river, coffee in hand and good company all around.

Burns Night brought plenty of laughter, especially thanks to Vicky’s brilliant outfit — we all agreed the beard suited her surprisingly well!

To round off the week, we relaxed with a cosy Knit & Natter session and got creative with some lovely bird-themed crafts.

Here’s to more weeks filled with fun, friendship, and plenty of giggles.
