Intrusive thoughts are something many people experience, especially during periods of anxiety.
They can feel very real and often quite distressing — particularly when they seem out of character or difficult to control.
One of the most important things to understand is that intrusive thoughts are not a reflection of who you are.
In fact, the distress they cause is often a sign that they go against what matters to you.
