Cambridge Academic Performance

Cambridge Academic Performance Performance Coaching for students using practical strategies, mentoring and occupational therapy.

We are a professional service helping students to perform in their studies and succeed in their lives. This is a private practice, separate from universities, colleges, and schools and it is completely confidential. Using a combination of coaching, supervision, mentoring and therapy, our aim is to support students at all levels of their academic career.

When students feel under pressure, they often believe they need to change everything at once. Work longer hours, overhaul routines, push harder.

But that’s not what we see in students who do consistently well.

We find the most successful students focus on marginal gains. Small, realistic changes that reduce friction and build confidence over time. A clearer plan. Better sleep. Shorter, more focused study. One adjustment that makes the next step easier.

These changes don’t look dramatic. But repeated over weeks, they transform performance.

If your child feels stuck right now, explore our resources or send us a message. Knowing where to start makes all the difference.

Many students wake up already feeling behind. Not because they lack ability, but because the day starts with too many decisions at once.

One small change we often recommend is planning the night before.

Just five minutes to:
• write down the tasks for the next day
• decide when and where work will happen
• prepare what’s needed (books, laptop, notes)

This simple habit reduces morning overwhelm, lowers anxiety, and helps students start the day with clarity and momentum.

Planning doesn’t need to be perfect.
It just needs to exist.

Try this tonight, or share it with someone who starts the day already feeling under pressure.

This surprises many parents.

The students who eventually do very well often experience fear early in the year. Fear of falling behind. Fear of repeating old patterns. Fear that this year will feel just as hard as the last.

That fear doesn’t mean something is wrong. It usually means the student cares deeply and is putting pressure on themselves.

We help students understand this fear, reduce its impact, and build confidence through clarity and practical strategies. When fear is understood, it loosens its grip and progress becomes possible.

If the new year has felt daunting in your household, explore our resources or send us a message.

When Tessa came to us, revision felt pointless. She wanted to do well, but didn’t know where to start, how to revise effectively, or whether what she was doing was making any difference at all.

Watching others seem confident only made things harder. When she did sit down to revise, she felt she’d forgotten everything a few days later. Motivation dropped - not because she didn’t care, but because the process didn’t work.

Together, we focused on how revision works. Over time, Tessa began to trust the process. Her revision became more efficient, her concentration improved, and she could see what she was remembering. With a balanced timetable and permission to rest, she avoided burnout and went into exam season feeling prepared and confident.

If your child wants to do well but feels stuck with revision, send us a message to find out how we can help.

February is a turning point.

Energy dips. Motivation wobbles. The year suddenly feels long. Students who perform well over the long term don’t respond by pushing harder. They pause, adjust, and reset.

They look at what’s working, what’s draining them, and what small change would make things easier right now.

We help students recalibrate without losing momentum - building routines that support both wellbeing and performance.

If your child needs a reset at this point in the year, explore our resources or send us a message.

Many parents tell us they know something isn’t quite right, but they’re unsure what to do next.

Their child may be working hard, yet feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or stuck. Conversations become tense. Reassurance doesn’t seem to land.

At Cambridge Academic Performance, we support parents as well as students.
We help families understand what’s happening beneath the surface, academically and emotionally, and what genuinely helps rather than adds pressure.

Our work with parents often focuses on:
• understanding stress and anxiety responses
• knowing when to step in and when to step back
• supporting learning without increasing tension
• helping young people rebuild confidence and balance

You don’t need to have all the answers.
Sometimes the most powerful thing is having a calm, informed space to think things through.

If you’re supporting a child who’s finding school stressful, you’re welcome to explore our resources or get in touch for a conversation.

We meet so many students who think they’re “bad at revising” or “not academic enough” because they can’t seem to remember what they’ve studied.

But in almost every case, the issue isn’t ability. It’s that no one has taught them how revision actually works.

The Revision Technique Workbook was designed to remove that confusion.

Students often tell us that this is the first time revision has actually made sense.

The workbook is available for individual students for £35 until the end of January.

One of the biggest barriers to student wellbeing isn’t lack of support - it’s stigma.
Many young people avoid seeking help because they worry about what it means, how it looks, or what others might think.

That’s why our approach resonates so strongly with schools.
We frame support in a way that feels safe, purposeful and directly tied to academic success.

As one educator shared:
“Rebadging counselling as academic mentoring removes the stigma - and students are far more willing to seek help.”

When support feels accessible, students open up sooner.
When they open up sooner, stress reduces.
And when stress reduces, everything improves.

If your school or organisation wants to offer support that students actually use, get in touch to learn more about our mentoring approach.

A student told us recently,
“I finally understand why my brain shuts down in exams. I’m not stupid - I’m stressed.”

That shift from shame to understanding is where progress begins.

Our workbooks and online trainings exist for moments like this.
They don’t just give information.
They give clarity, confidence, and a sense of control.

Students learn to understand their emotions, study with strategy, and respond to stress with skill.

Parents tell us the biggest change is seeing their child relax again.

January can be a tough month for students.
The holidays are over, routines feel heavy again, and motivation is often at its lowest. It’s not a character flaw, it’s a normal response to restarting after rest.

Motivation doesn’t appear before you begin.
It grows because you begin.
Here are three tiny techniques we use with students to help them get moving again:

1️⃣ Make the first step unbelievably small

2️⃣ Try a change of scenery

3️⃣ Create a simple “start ritual”

Tiny actions create momentum, and momentum lead to motivation.
That’s the order it really happens in, especially in January!

Share this with someone who’s finding the mid-January restart harder than expected.

We work with schools where teachers are stretched, pastoral teams are overwhelmed, and students are under enormous pressure.

The truth is:
Academic difficulty often is emotional difficulty.
Emotional difficulty often shows up through academic performance.

That’s why our resources are designed to work together - wellbeing, anxiety, revision, planning, exam skills. A whole-school toolkit that speaks the same language.

Schools tell us our workbooks:
Make conversations easier
Reduce stigma
Help students take ownership of their progress
Improve confidence and reduce stress

When everyone’s working from the same foundation, students thrive.

When Michael came to us, procrastination had taken over.
Every time he tried to start work, the task felt too big and he would avoid it. All day. Then work late into the night to catch up.

That cycle chipped away at his confidence more than the work itself.

Together, we began rebuilding from the ground up.
The turning point? Michael realised his expectations were the real barrier, not his ability.

With gentler transitions, smaller steps, and momentum on his side, he stopped fearing the start and began trusting himself again. The more he acted, the more confident he became and the procrastination cycle broke.

If your child is stuck in the same cycle, we can help them rebuild confidence through action too.
