Just to report that we had another successful workshop for Citizen's Advice last week. The topic was Dealing with Change and it was refreshing to know that (some) participants who did not particularly want to be there, by the end were fully grateful for the workshop and the knowledge that was gained. It's always good to watch people get involved. Dealing with any sort of change is never easy, and we are very happy to support everyone whether it is in dealing with change in private lives or in a business capacity. Let me know whether we can do anything for you!

When people sign up for training or workshops, do we ever stop and think why they are attending? They may be told by managers that they have to attend (even though managers often exclude themselves from training); or they may happily sign up as part of their personal development. Whatever their reasons, when they come along they bring with them their own needs and questions. That is why our workshops are so successful. We encourage free thinking, lively debate and purposeful questioning. Find out more and join us at a forthcoming session http://www.arcskillsconsultancy.com/resilienceregained

Can you really believe that the British Embassy in Kabul has actually told Afghan students who have been offered places at UK universities that there is no time to do the paperwork but that they can apply again next year? This is utterly absurd and defies belief. So the dozens of girls who expected to study in the UK are now left stranded and at the mercy of the Taliban. Who are these civil servants who treat human beings in such a callous way? How would they react/behave if it was their daughter/son? Damn the paperwork.

How do we keep going when things are tough? How do we face the future when we have been made redundant? How do we challenge the office bully? How do we feel truly when our kids leave home for university? Our minds can be full of so many mixed emotions, but somehow we have to get through the fears and the hurt. If you are Lionel Messi a few million pounds eases the pain but for most of us it can be a long, painful step in our lives. Our September workshops will help you build resilience and to look forward to your continuing journey.

Yet again a large organisation (the FA this time) announces a review of procedures to see what went wrong with the shambles at the EUROS final at Wembley. Should it not be the case that they take action beforehand to ensure such chaos doesn't occur? Why do we always have to try and make sure it doesn't happen again, and in reality it so often does. It's careless, badly planned and managed, with no real thought to the process. Yet so many people are put at risk, and suffer because of a lack of planning. Apologies are not enough! If you are faced with difficult situations in your life, ARC can provide support and encouragement to overcome chaotic times and show you a way ahead.

We are about to embark on the next round of Resilience Regained training. How can I make my postings more exciting for thousands more people to be enthralled by what I say? I can't! My skills are in delivering high quality workshops! Try us and see how good we are at delivering top quality training. Don't employ us for our marketing skills though! Each workshop lasts 2 hours, is limited to 12 people per session and costs £40 per person. Book now!

When we do workshops with people, they often have the desire to do better in their lives - Be the Better You - but life's problems can so easily overwhelm them. I had the pleasure of seeing Andy Murray at Wimbledon on Wednesday, and the spirit, determination, passion he showed in winning is an example to us all. We can achieve, we can succeed, we can Be the Better You.

We can all celebrate the departure of the hapless Hancock but I am more interested in the underlying story. The appointment of someone who is a friend (or whatever) to a post, possibly without interview, possibly without the right qualifications and possibly causing more harm than good. Yet this is not the first time we hear of cronyism in Government. And it happens everywhere. Has your boss married their boss? Have you been sidelined because you are not part of the clique? Have you been denied promotion when most think you are the best candidate? Who gets kicked out when restructuring takes place? We have years and years of experience so we know exactly what happens in business! If you need support in fighting your corner, come to one of our workshops!

Good to see that Cristiano Ronaldo is following my posts and removed the sponsors' drinks from his press conference!

When we tune in to a football match, we don't expect to see a fit, young man fighting for his life on the pitch. What we did then see was how human beings work together to care, support, assist someone suffering. Fans forgot their differences, medical staff rush to use the skills they have developed over the years, and fellow players show their love and fear for their colleague and friend. Then we see another side. At the press conference the sponsors' drinks are prominently displayed. Never miss an opportunity these people. Probably more people watching than normally! Can't let this pass! When do real people say in a polite way of course to big business and its sponsorship and its money that they too should behave in a human way? Will businesses accept decency before an opportunity?

How many times does so called society make mistakes, sets up a review and says it has learnt? In my lifetime goodness knows how many times we have listened to people who say that "lessons have been learned." But in reality are they ever? No one takes final responsibility. No one resigns mostly. Are they ever ashamed of their behaviour? Do they patronise most of us in their statements, and then carry on regardless? So who is to blame? When will the majority speak out and say stop. Enough is enough. Or do we carry on as long as we are ok. Do we care enough to challenge? Are we interested enough to listen, to read, and to learn about the injustices that are going on around us, and in the wider world? Do we even know about the history of Kashmir? Do we understand the conflict still in Libya?
