Our Story
THE YOYO CHRONICLES·WEDNESDAY, 11 JULY 2018·
Join me on my weight loss journey:
My Facebook group is called NoToTheYoYo. I am truly fed up with yoyo dieting and am working towards a stable healthy weight for life; hence my second hashtag - YesToAstableWeight. I have been trying to shed about 60 lbs since September 2014 and to motivate and hold myself accountable, I set up my blog; The YoYo Chronicles in 2016 and so far I have lost 30lbs. My weight has gone up and down my entire life but this journey has been by far the hardest because of peri-menopause and menopause. I wish I knew enough about menopause when I was a teenager because I would have planned my life differently. It would not have stopped me wanting to be a lawyer, but I would have made sure to become a mother at the optimum time to avoid IVF and so on. That is a story for another day. I always wanted to have children but in the so called high achieving group that I grew up in, it was not something that I felt able to express so I stifled that inner voice. Thankfully, I have a lot of nieces and nephews. As you can imagine, there is a lot of talk about menopause in my Facebook group and it's effect on women, but my group is different from other midlife or menopause groups because it is aimed at arming younger women with sufficient information to enable manage them their careers alongside their general and reproductive health. I want my young nieces who are members of my group to have all the knowledge that I did not have growing up but also to show the older women that is possible to be healthy, happy and fulfilled before, during and after menopause. I truly believe that there are two types of people; the living and the dead and that age has nothing to do with it. A good diet and exercise regime is the closest most of us will get to the fountain of youth so I encourage everyone in my group to drink up. Old age and decrepitude is not inevitable. We can tip the odds back in our favour quite a bit and have fun while doing so. The other thing, I struggled with all my life was being a feminist that loves fashion and beauty. In my group with celebrate lipstick loving feminists along with those who do not wear make-up or embrace feminism. I love my group because it is a safe place where we can share information and where we are enough. Until next time it’s

I came across this article while researching a completely different matter. I think it is fascinating. What do you think?
‘I think women want freedom. They want to be empowered. They want hope. They want love; they want all the things that I want, and I’m not…

THE SMIZE
“Smize” is a term that was coined by Tyra Banks in 2009 on the television show “America’s Next Top Model”. Smizing means smiling with your eyes by bringing life to your eyes while keeping the rest of your face neutral.
I struggled to suppress my giggle but nailed it!

Proud to congratulate British Biafran, Chioma Nnadi as Vogue’s new head of editorial content. As a British Biafran – this makes so much sense to me. Fashion is one of those seemingly pointless pursuits in life along with music, dance, and art that one had to shove to the side while focussing on becoming a lawyer, doctor or any other sensible profession that would help put food on the table and pay the bills.
Chioma on 9 October 2023 took over from the amazing British Ghanaian, Edward Enninful who was at the helm for 6 years.
Born to a Swiss-German nurse mother and a Biafran father who came to the UK to study in the 1960s, Nnadi grew up in central London, working at magazines such as Trace and Fader as well as London’s Evening Standard.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE SEASON?
When I first moved back to the UK from Nigeria, I used to feel sad when summer gave to autumn. I could not make the distinction and to me, British weather was either summer or not summer. My favourite season is now spring. I like spring like I love Fridays - partly because it is the last day before the weekend. Spring is the season before summer. Anyway, I have learnt to love autumn too, especially for the colour. What I dread is the change to wintertime, but we have a few weeks to go until that happens.
I realise it has been a hot minute and all my social media has been neglected. I plan to post more regularly so hopefully more soon.

TINA TURNER 26 November 1939 – 24 May 2023
Heaven just gained a beautiful angel. Thank you for the music, the dancing, and your sheer resilience. You showed us how to rise again and turn tragedy into success. Rest in peace our beautiful Tina Turner.
