With the festive season quickly approaching, have you started thinking of that unique gift to buy family and friends? I couldn’t be any prouder. When Ivor first came to me after suffering from a stroke he had been told he would never walk again and if he did he would always need an aid. After months of determination, Ivor can walk without an aid. I am so unbelievably proud of him and all he is achieving. We have worked so hard together and I’m so excited to see what’s next for Ivor. I absolutely love the amount of exercise and sport my nephew does on a weekly basis also whilst having so much fun with his friends. Teaching children about health and fitness is so important to me. Mind Over Body is all about positivity around exercise and our mental health.

Mind Over Body was 8 in September and I will always be grateful for the growth and progression Mind Over Body has achieved in that time. I have been in the industry for 14 years now and I have learnt so much in that time through my own physical and mental health experiences and the courses I have been on. Personal Training has been my passion for years and the benefits it has and can help so many people in so many walks of life. I am currently working with a number of clients with neurological illnesses. I have been working with three different clinics who refer rehabilitation patients to me but through word of mouth I have also gained many more. To see the benefits Personal Training has had on all my clients, makes me proud to do the job that I do. I am currently working with four clients who have all suffered a Ischemic stroke, they are all at different stages of their rehabilitation but the progress is extremely noticeable to themselves and their families. After a stroke, many patients need to relearn how to perform activities of daily living through speech, cognitive, and physical therapy. The goal of working with myself is to increase the level of independent function and to improve coordination and balance. Most importantly, working both sides of the body to make sure the strongest side remains strong. I am finding the exercise is helping to improve my clients’s gait, balance, flexibility, grip strength and over all coordination. As Mind Over Body turned 8, I am continuing to learn and support all my clients on their individual journeys. Receiving messages like this on my weekend makes me love my job even more. I have 4 clients that I am currently seeing that have sadly had a right side stroke. To receive this message off my clients daughter who can see the progression and change in her father makes my job even more rewarding. I have been tailoring every session and the progress is huge. I am so proud of each and everyone of my clients for all the effort they put in to every session, even on those days we find that much harder. xS

WOW! My little business is 8 today! Happy 8th Birthday, Mind Over Body. The key to success is to start before you’re ready. 8 years ago today, I launched Mind Over Body and the truth is, I wasn’t ready. I had no confidence or self esteem and I didn’t believe I had what it takes to run my own business. After battling with my mental and physical health for four years, I struggled to believe in myself but I knew I wanted to take my own experiences and try to help others in a positive way. 8 years on and I’ve realised believing in yourself is the first secret to success. I didn’t start my business just to make money. I started my business to make a difference. I’ve learnt so much in the last 8 years and I’ve realised running your own business takes a huge amount of time, effort and long hours but seeing the rewards and the positive impacts Mind Over Body is having on my clients makes it all worth while. Mind Over Body has had a tough year but I am so proud of the journey we are on. Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life. There is no greater joy nor greater reward than to make a fundamental difference in someone’s life. The road to success is always under construction and going into my next year of business I promise to work even harder to grow and strengthen Mind Over Body. Just like any small business, it’s come with it’s highs and it’s lows but I genuinely couldn’t have asked for a better 8 years in business.
