Hello Everyone!
Did you know in Essex 10% of children and young people have long-term or persistent speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) which equates to 2-3 children per classroom? Communication begins from birth but much of that consists of crying, tantrums, grunting and yanking arms, leading to lots of misunderstanding resulting in:
• unnecessary frustration for both children and family members/carers
• unhappy/unsettled babies and children
• higher levels of the stress hormone cortisol and subsequent permanent damage to structures in the brain
• slowed cognitive development and future mental health issues including anxiety, stress and depression.
The Sing and Sign Programme can support you and your little one through their most critical early years:
• making early communication simpler.
•supporting speech and language development for those where speech is emerging but is still unclear.
• by supporting development of literacy skills and providing an excellent foundation for learning to read and spell.
• Promote greater understanding of your baby/child’s needs and wants, which reduces frustration levels and leads to a more settled baby/child.
Here’s what one of my lovely mummies attending a community course had to say:
Rebecca is fantastic and I cannot recommend her Sing and Sign classes enough! We joined Rebecca’s class when my little one was around 6 months old and continued the classes working through the stages until she was 2. I can honestly say that my baby developed and learnt so much from Rebecca and her classes. The course was incredible for her development and in particular for her communication and language skills and we saw how much of a positive impact the classes had on her. My little one loved the classes and loved Rebecca, she felt happy, confident and comfortable in every session and thoroughly enjoyed them. - Abigail
