New Year’s Eve Celebrations at Appleby House

We saw in New Year’s Eve in the best possible way with the wonderful Eliza, who had our residents singing along to much-loved classics from the 50s, 60s and 70s. Hands were in the air, feet were tapping, and the room was filled with smiles, laughter and joy.
As we welcome the New Year, we would like to say a heartfelt thank you to all our families and friends for your continued support throughout the year — it truly means so much to us.

Everybody at Appleby House would like to wish you all a very, very happy Christmas and a wonderful, healthy and happy New Year.
We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to our incredible staff, who go above and beyond every single day. You create magical moments that make our residents’ lives truly special and fulfilled, and we are so grateful for everything you do.
Thank you as well to our residents’ families for the ongoing support, kindness and trust you give us throughout the year – it means more than you know.
And last, but certainly not least, to our wonderful residents, who we absolutely adore – we wish you a very, very happy Christmas. You are at the heart of everything we do.

Congratulations to the Forget Me Not Allotment for winning the Bio Diversity Summer 2025. The judges highlighted, Outstanding wildlife evidence, garden to kitchen produce being used in the kitchen, strong community partnership and constant resident involvement. The Victoria Plumb tree is a welcome edition to the allotment ### Thank you Care UK ###

Spooktacular Fun at Appleby House!

What a fang-tastic week it’s been here at Appleby House! Our home was truly boo-tifully transformed for Halloween — full of laughter, pumpkins, and a few cheeky tricks (and plenty of treats!).

As always, we held our Pumpkin Carving Competition, where each suite’s carers and residents teamed up to create their spookiest designs. Our spooktacular entertainer, Richard Harvey, had the tricky (and terrifyingly tough!) job of judging the pumpkins — but after much howl-arious deliberation, the winners were Picasso Suite with their pirate-themed pumpkin, “Pirate Picasso”, and the runners-up were the Lifestyle Team with their hilarious Elvis-inspired creation, “Hellvis!”

On Thursday, the Trick or Treat Trolley rolled through our corridors, delighting residents with terrifyingly tasty cakes and boo-tiful biscuits, freshly baked by our fangtastic restaurant team.

From howlingly good music and ghoulish giggles to mummy-wrapped mischief and pumpkin-powered fun, our Halloween celebrations were to die for!

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this Halloween a real scream!
