We were delighted to receive this beautiful family photo of Sandra and her family on holiday in Mexico. Sandra's son, Sam, died under the care of Princess Alice Hospice earlier this year. ❤️

Shortly afterwards, Sam's friend arranged for limited editions of his favourite shirt to be sold to raise funds to support our work. His family was proud to wear them in honour of this difficult first Christmas without Sam.

We are so grateful we could support Sam and his family in these difficult moments, and we hope to share Sam's full story later in the New Year.

When someone is nearing the end of their life, moments of connection, safety and genuine compassion can mean everything. 💛

While Jackie was staying on the In-Patient Unit for pain management, she was delighted to meet the Mayor and Lady Mayoress: “I called over to him and his wife in the car park and introduced myself, we had a lovely chat.

I didn’t have the easiest upbringing, but I have never felt as safe in my life as I do here. The way you’re treated here is so respectful, there’s absolutely nothing fake, you walk into the building and it’s one massive comfort blanket… Every single person here is a star. That feeling of care and love is genuine. I’m a bit of a hugger and I’m never refused a hug. I’ll be under the care of Princess Alice Hospice when I move and I know they’ll keep me safe.”
