A simple standing forward bend (Uttanasana) delivers:

✔️ Spaciousness in the back body
✔️ Flexibility through legs + hips
✔️ A longer, happier spine
✔️ Ease in digestion + relief from bloating
✔️ Better circulation
✔️ A calming reset for the whole system.

Fold forward… then gently lift into a soft backbend. Repeat 3–4 rounds.

Such a small practice — yet it brings a profound sense of ease, balance and wellbeing - one move, many benefits🙏

Introducing the pause to your practice

Offers space to simply stop - to rest, breathe and reconnect.

In a world that rarely slows down, the pause practice brings relief of tension - to soften, calm the mind and rediscover your inner balance.

Forget the practice of pushing yourself, to the limit, seeking perfection in a pose.

Instead allow yourself to be lead by your breath gently moving in to the pose - holding - and slowly moving out, this is the way of yin yoga.

My classes are designed especially for women 50 + giving time for 'just you' - to listen inwardly, release and to feel restored.

If you're a woman over 50 struggling with daily challenges and trying to live your best life.

You might want to rethink your daily habits and introduce a simple new one that links two powerful poses to stretch the lower body joints & muscles, regulate your breathing pattern and calm the nervous system.

Here's my modified sequence to move from a squat into a standing forward fold.

🌿 If you can't straighten your legs in the forward fold, keep your knees bent.
🌿If holding a deep squat is uncomfortable, keep your knees parallel and use your hands to help guide your body through the movement.

This centring little flow will focus you on balance to lift the heels and stay upright coupled with a powerful stretch.

If practiced regularly it will help cultivate flexibility and strength through gentle controlled movement.

Repeat for six reps, then rest into a gentle rebound hugging knees to chest.

What message do you get from a tree?

If you choose to listen to a tree they offer us great wisdom, through their life of endurance, weathering countless storms, over the centuries.

They send a profound message to the world - of connection, resilience, stability and growth.

I sense the trees innate power comes from what we cannot see - it's deep stabilising roots, it's strong life force energy.

So powerful that its influence encourages us to stay connected to our core values and where we come from.

When I look up I see scars, nourishment and hardship as part of a noble and beautiful history.

For me - the message is to stand proud and loyal to ourselves and those around us.

Life is big, trees are big but nothings too big to change.

Setting goals that are difficult to reach can indicate a need to recognise that you are your own biggest motivator.

I've been away from socials sorting out stuff that has truly challenged me, breaking down barriers that prevented me from moving forward.

Nevertheless deep down I know these difficulties are not bigger than the trees.

🍂Stepping into a carpet of Autumn leaves, looking up the tall strong trunks to glimpse into the light I suddenly feel calm, centred and free.

🪾Free of what doesn't serve me. Yet holding on to what I really want.
