As you may have noted in the national media, there has been a fall in cases reported in respect of the Meningitis outbreak in the Kent area and thankfully it does not appear to have spread to other areas.

April is IBS Awareness Month, dedicated to raising awareness, reducing stigma and educating the public about Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
IBS affects up to 15% of the UK population, with symptoms like abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhoea and constipation.
Other symptoms can include feeling tired and sick, backache, and bladder issues.

April is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month and we are encouraging everyone to share information about the disease.
Bowel cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths, but with early detection, the survival rate can be as high as 9 in 10 so it’s important to increase awareness about the signs, symptoms and preventative measures.

If you're aged 50 to 74, the NHS will automatically send you a bowel cancer screening home test kit through the post every two years.
Please use the kit when you receive it.

Please note a major issue occurred with the NHS IT system in our area this morning which meant it was not accessible by our staff for a period, during which we were unable to access patient records and deal with inquiries or order prescriptions.

NHS IT staff have worked to address the issue and the system is now back in full operation and we do not anticipate any further issues.

We apologise for any inconvenience and any delays caused by the issue and thank you for your patience and understanding.

Nearly 1 in 4 people have missed an NHS appointment because they forgot or arrived too late.
That’s according to a new survey which also found there were 16 million ‘no shows’ for GP appointments in England in 2025.
To combat this issue, the NHS has urged people to turn on ‘push alerts’ from the NHS App so they get reminders about appointments and can rearrange any they can’t make, helping to free up millions of appointments for others.

Today, March 12 is World Kidney Day.
Incredibly, an estimated 7.2 million people in the UK suffer from Chronic kidney disease (CKD), a long-term condition where the kidneys do not work as well as they should.
And as it’s often symptomless until it develops further, it’s believed millions more are undiagnosed.

We are supporting World Glaucoma Week which runs from March 8-14.
Glaucoma is the leading cause of preventable blindness and is an eye condition where the main nerve, which connects the eye to the brain, becomes damaged.
It's most common in adults aged 50 and over and can cause vision loss if it's not diagnosed and treated early.
