Do Christmas lights and noise make you feel like you've just run a marathon? If you’re living with a brain injury, you’re not imagining it.

The festive season can be full of joy, but also full of sensory overload, changes in routine, and fatigue. That’s why planning ahead can make a big difference.

A few simple ideas:
🎄 Break big tasks into smaller steps
🗓 Use a visual planner for shopping and events
🛋 Schedule downtime (yes, it’s allowed!)

Christmas doesn’t have to be perfect, and never will be unless you give yourself the time and space to enjoy it.

👇So tell us—what will you say “no” to without guilt this Christmas?

Last week we finally made time for a long-overdue visit to Phil Rawlinson at Keep Active Mobility, with special guest Charley Cash from .

Why do we do this? Because seeing and trying equipment in person means we can give you the best advice when it comes to finding solutions for everyday life.

We explored:
🔹 Pressure relief cushions to keep skin healthy and comfortable
🔹 The incredible Magic XT4 – a powerchair built for adventure
🔹 A huge range of wheelchairs and seating options for different needs
🔹 Power-assist devices (yes, we tested them all!)
🔹 Beautifully supportive armchairs from PrimaCare
…and so much more.

Every client is unique, and these sessions help us stay up-to-date so we can recommend the right equipment for your goals and lifestyle.

📸 Swipe through the photos to see what we tried, and if you’ve got questions about any of these solutions, drop us a message. We’re always happy to chat about what might work for you or your family.

It’s always a pleasure to visit the Innova Care Concepts HQ in Wetherby, and last week’s visit didn’t disappoint!

We explored their accessible kitchen in action, featuring innovative storage solutions, built-in safety features, and height-adjustable work surfaces, all available in a wide range of styles and colours.

Our newly qualified OT, Grace, has only been with us a week and was mesmerised by their hoist, equipment she hadn’t come across during her university placements!

Our next stop was Vivid.Care, where we tested their range of armchairs, including a brand-new model that’s yet to be revealed at the OT Show later this month (spoiler: it was bliss!).

Finally on to Aquadapt who showcased their hydrotherapy pool portfolio, and let’s just say there was a serious wow factor involved!

We love seeing innovation in action and can’t wait to share more insights from our visits.

🕑Early intervention in occupational therapy isn’t just helpful, it’s essential.

This year, we worked with Joan, a retired teacher who had a stroke that left her unable to move from the neck down. On discharge from hospital, it was clear she had become fully dependent on others. We had to act early to protect her family from burnout, and to preserve Joan’s independence and sense of self-worth.

We completed an assessment and introduced a few changes that were important to Joan and her family:

💬 Voice-controlled technology that allowed her to answer the phone and operate the TV and lights.
♿ A standing powerchair to offload pressure and support bodily and muscle function.
🍽 A robotic feeder to give her some independence at mealtimes.

Now, Joan is engaging with the technology, regaining a sense of independence and interacting with the world around her once again. There is the possibility of her improving and no longer needing some of the aids we introduced, but what if we’d waited?

Tell us about the interventions you have made that changed someone’s story?

supports people with medical conditions or disabilities to drive safely and maintain independence.

We headed over to the Salford Open Day at CorpAcq Stadium this week to see the vehicle adaptions and tech first-hand. There were lots of options on display, and a few really caught our attention:

- we had a go on their adapted driving simulator (turns out being a non-gamer makes it extra tricky 😵‍💫 ).
- saw the Chair Topper in action, with it's new aero-dynamic design.
- watched a demo of the manual wheelchair that transforms into a car seat, the wheels come off and the seat slides right into place.

It’s one thing seeing the equipment online, but getting hands-on really brings it to life.
