Anti-Inflammatory Lifestyle Choices.
Infrared Therapy

Infrared light therapy is another powerful tool. It penetrates deep into tissues, increasing blood flow, oxygenation, and cellular repair. This can help reduce muscle soreness, joint stiffness, and systemic inflammation. Many people report improved recovery, energy, and sleep after consistent infrared sauna or panel sessions.
The gentle heat also promotes detoxification through sweat, helping your body eliminate inflammatory byproducts.

To complement movement and infrared therapy, focus on these daily habits:
• Eat whole, colorful foods rich in antioxidants (berries, leafy greens, olive oil, fatty fish).
• Stay hydrated and limit processed foods and sugar.
• Prioritize sleep — your body does most of its repair overnight.
• Manage stress through breathing exercises, meditation, or journaling.

The Takeaway

Inflammation isn’t inherently bad — it’s part of how we heal. But when it becomes chronic, it quietly erodes our health. Combining mindful movement like Pilates, infrared therapy, and balanced daily habits helps your body recover, rejuvenate, and thrive with less internal stress.
The goal isn’t to eliminate inflammation completely — it’s to keep it in healthy balance so your body can perform at its best.

Inflammation: Why Keeping It Low Is Key to Long-Term Health

Inflammation is your body’s natural defense mechanism — a vital process that helps you heal from injury, fight infection, and recover from stress. But when inflammation becomes chronic, it can quietly contribute to a range of health problems, from fatigue and joint pain to heart disease and autoimmune conditions. Keeping inflammation at bay is one of the most powerful ways to support long-term wellness and vitality. Understanding Inflammation

There are two main types of inflammation:
• Acute inflammation is short-term and beneficial — the redness and swelling that occur when you twist an ankle or cut your finger.
• Chronic inflammation, on the other hand, is low-grade and persistent. It can be driven by stress, poor diet, lack of sleep, and inactivity. Over time, it damages cells, disrupts hormones, and accelerates aging.

Why Reducing Inflammation Matters

Chronic inflammation can:
• Increase your risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
• Impair recovery and performance after workouts.
• Disrupt digestion, immunity, and mental clarity.
• Contribute to joint pain and stiffness.
Natural Ways to Reduce Inflammation

1. Movement and Pilates

Regular exercise — especially mindful movement like Pilates — plays a critical role in reducing inflammation. Pilates strengthens the core, improves circulation, and promotes balance in the nervous system. By combining controlled breathing with fluid motion, it lowers stress hormones like cortisol while boosting endorphins and circulation.
Research shows that consistent moderate exercise helps regulate inflammatory markers in the body and improves immune resilience.
The good news? Lifestyle choices can dramatically lower inflammation and restore balance to your body.

Ever fancied boxing and reformers ? Combing Boxing and Reformer Pilates is amazing for developing balance, reactions, and dexterity because they train opposite but complementary systems of your body. My lovely clients are in their 70s and love the challenge of boxing and reformers even with their challenges of Parkinson’s and needing a new knee!

Here is a broken down list of the benefits this type of exercise can help with.
⚖️ 1. Balance
• Reformer Pilates: Constantly challenges your stability through controlled, unstable movements on the carriage. It strengthens your deep stabilizers — especially in your core, hips, and ankles — which gives you better postural balance.
• Boxing: Demands dynamic balance — shifting weight rapidly between stances, maintaining control during punches, and reacting to movement.
• Combined Effect: Pilates builds the foundation of balance; boxing tests it in motion. Together, they create a strong, stable, and agile body that can handle fast directional changes.

⚡ 2. Reactions
• Boxing: Sharpens your reflexes through drills, sparring, and mitt work — training your nervous system for quick decision-making and reaction time.
• Reformer Pilates: Refines your neuromuscular control — making your muscle activation more precise and efficient.
• Combined Effect: Pilates gives you smoother, faster neuromuscular coordination, so your boxing reactions become not only quicker but also more controlled and efficient.

🤲 3. Dexterity & Coordination
• Reformer Pilates: Demands intricate coordination between limbs, breath, and core — enhancing fine motor control and movement precision.
• Boxing: Builds hand-eye coordination and rhythm — timing punches with footwork and head movement.
• Combined Effect: Together, they improve total-body dexterity — your ability to move with grace, precision, and responsiveness, whether you’re throwing punches or maintaining form under fatigue.
