Very excited and terrified to be running from London to Paris with an inspiring group of ladies. We are raising money for incredible charities Parkinson Charity and Regain charity ( a charity helping sports and independant living for tetraplegics). We will cover over 10 marathons over 4 days camping in between. We are certainly all out of our comfort zone! Please sponsor us if you feel you can.

Why Eccentric Quadriceps Strengthening Is So Important for Injury Prevention. Pedro has no ACL and was told 20 years ago after his third surgery he would need a TKR (total knee replacement). However by keeping his quads and hamstrings plus supporting muscles strong he can run ultra marathons and pain free. Eccentric exercises like this are a key part keeping him strong. He certainly does not need a TKR anytime soon! He does need to stay strong though.

Eccentric contraction = the muscle lengthens while under tension (for the quads, that’s usually during deceleration, like going down stairs or landing from a jump).

For the quadriceps (front thigh muscles), eccentric strength is one of the most protective qualities you can build.
