August has been another busy month at Pilgrim Gardens with a number of residents going away on holiday with friends and relatives and others just enjoying the good weather in our beautiful grounds. I took advantage of the better weather and had a couple of weeks leave with my family and 3 dogs in Suffolk. Sadly we got the worst of the weather with almost constant low lying cloud but at least it was dry. I can't say it was relaxing with the 3 dogs but it was a change of scenery and a nice break. Prior to my leave we had a devotions which included communion led by one of our local church leaders and it was a lovely time reflecting on what the lord has done, particularly for those who struggle to get out to church. I also had a visit from our CEO who encouraged and challenged me in being salt and light in the area around the scheme. We would value your prayers. Life at Pilgrim Gardens

Our new-build retirement living apartment complex in Evington, Leicester, was opened in 2013. The scheme won the 2012 national HAPPI Housing Design Award. HAPPI stands for ‘Housing our Ageing Population: Panel for Innovation, and applauds the excellence of the design and the benefits to individual home-dweller.

As well as its own landscaped garden with its Japanese style outdoor seating area, each apartment has its own private winter garden. Pilgrim Gardens is next to the 44 acre Evington Park, with its abundant trees and flower beds.

Although now part of Leicester, Evington retains a village atmosphere. It has a good range of shops and within a ten-minute walk are a post office and a doctor’s surgery. Also close by are a Library, arboretum and golf course.
