👋 It’s been a while since I’ve properly introduced myself, and with lots of new followers recently, I thought it was time to say hello and share a little about me and how Exthetics began.

I’m Anna, a Registered Nurse, Independent Nurse Prescriber, and founder of Exthetics in Exeter.

My background is in paediatric nursing, where I spent several years in the NHS before moving into paediatric nutrition in a commercial role.

I trained in aesthetics about five years ago, initially as a small sideline while raising my two small children as a single parent. What began as a way to support my family soon became something I genuinely loved. Helping people feel confident in their own skin and seeing the difference that subtle, natural treatments can make, quickly became my passion.

My ethics are rooted in nursing. First and foremost, I am a nurse, and that means patient care and safety will always come first.

Since completing my Level 7 Diploma in Injectable Medicine and prescribing qualification, I’ve built Exthetics mainly through word of mouth and patient referrals, something I’m incredibly proud of.

Today, we’re proud to be an award-winning clinic, recognised with an Exeter Living Award 2024 for best beauty clinic and as a finalist for Best Clinic in the South of England at the Aesthetic Awards 2025. We’re also Platinum accredited, members of the British Association of Medical Aesthetic Nurses, and listed on

The under-eye area is one of the most frequently asked-about concerns in clinic, and understandably so. It’s often the first place we begin to notice signs of ageing. Fine lines, dark circles, puffiness or hollowing can appear gradually, and can affect how we feel about our overall appearance.

But under-eye rejuvenation isn’t as simple as just adding filler.

As we age, several things change beneath the surface: the skin becomes thinner, the fat pads shift, the bone structure recedes, and the ligaments that hold the tissues in place begin to relax. Even subtle volume loss in the cheeks can dramatically affect how the under-eye looks.

At Exthetics, we take a detailed, evidence-based approach. We begin with facial analysis using the Observ device to understand the structure, support and skin quality. If there’s skin laxity, we start with a retinol-based eye cream to strengthen the area over several weeks. Radiofrequency microneedling with polynucleotides then works to rebuild collagen and improve texture.

Only when the skin is in a better place (and with appropriate support from the mid-face), do we assess whether tear trough filler might be suitable. In many cases, restoring cheek volume is more beneficial than going straight to the under-eye.

This is a nuanced area. The right treatment doesn’t just improve how you look — it protects the integrity of this delicate part of the face for the long term.

NEW MOLE SCREENING SERVICE

We have recently introduced MapMyMole, our new mole screening service at Exthetics.

If you’re concerned about a mole, you no longer need to wait months for a check.

Here’s how it works:
During your appointment, our nurse Rachel will take a high-quality dermatoscopic image using a specialised microscope. This is then reviewed by a UK consultant dermatologist, who will provide a detailed report. Your report can be sent directly to you or to the clinic.

Appointments are available on Mondays and evenings, and the service costs £95.
