CEDA is a Devon based organisation working to provide quality services specialising in working with disabled people. From 1-1 enabling, learning courses delivered from our activity hub or short breaks we try and provide a personalised service for all users. CEDA works with adults and children with many disabilities including physical, learning and sensory. Based in Exeter our activity hub boosts impressive facilities including two ICT suites, a sensory room, soft play room, dedicated children’s room, gym, arts and craft studio, kitchen, meeting spaces, sensory garden and offices. We work in the community with our users providing a 1-1 enabling service and short breaks service for those who are able to access direct payments. CEDA is also offering disabled people across the South West advice and guidance on the changes being made and implemented both nationally and Devon wide.

After a break in the last couple of years, CEDA's Feel Fab Feb event is back next month for 2026!

You may remember from previous years that the event has focused on individual challenges and activities. This year, we’re adding a different slant, with features and information about accessible opportunities for everyone to increase their wellbeing at CEDA and in the wider community.

Look out for our collaborations with local services like St Sidwell's Point and Westbank Community Health and Care, as well as our therapeutic mentoring service, Calmer Lives, where they’ll be sharing information on how we can all make small, positive steps to improve our wellbeing. We’ll also be hearing from some of the people we support about the positive changes they’ve made in their lives to boost their wellbeing and feel as fab as can be ✨

Super Good Girl Tilly has become a semi-regular visitor here at CEDA recently. Enjoy these pics of her delighting some of our supported people, helping in the office, attending meetings, and just generally spreading her doggy joy to everyone 🐾

Tilly, 6, loves cuddles and seems to have a remarkable knack for finding balls in the CEDA car park.

Perhaps she should have a job title - Wellbeing & Cuddle Coordinator? Head of Barketing? let us know in the comments!

Following the exciting news about the return of Celebrate CEDA (see yesterday's post if you missed it), Here's a post about the last one we had in Autumn 2024. It was so much fun! Roll on March 13th for the next one!

✨ Save the date — Celebrate CEDA is back, this time with a brand new springtime slot! ✨

It’s big, it’s back, and it’s going to be better than ever. We are SO excited to announce the return of Celebrate CEDA — our joy-filled celebration of our people and their achievements at CEDA.

This year there will be a small ticket cost of £5 for those not nominated for an award or volunteering at the event. Tickets will go on sale in early February, but you can register your interest before then by DMing us or emailing amazing@cedaonline.org.uk

Save the date and watch this space for more details — we can’t wait to celebrate together.

"Hands Off Our Handles!"

Many wheelchair users have experienced being touched or moved without consent, and often without any warning at all. This is mostly done with the best of intentions by people who think they’re “helping”, but it can feel invasive and distressing.

Hands Off Our Handles is a new social media campaign started by journalist and disability rights advocate Melissa Parker, raising awareness of the impact of this behaviour and challenging the idea that it's okay to touch or move someone’s wheelchair or mobility aid without permission.

Melissa launched the campaign after sharing her own experiences and hearing from many others who had faced similar experiences.

We’ve seen it at CEDA too, and have had to remind and check ourselves to make sure we always check in with people before touching them or their wheelchairs. It’s an important reminder that good intentions don’t replace consent.

Read more about the campaign in this article, which also has a link to the Instagram campaign where you can share your stories;

A man once grabbed my wheelchair on an ordinary day, and another grabbed my bra strap—not the first, and certainly not the last. I still feel that sickly realisation in my gut—the way panic scatters my thoughts. Afterwards, I'll think, “Not again,” as I experience all the usual aftereffect...

As part of the training for the upcoming Great West Run, some of our running team undertook the Couch to 5K programme, starting on October. Despite Christmas, illness, and injuries getting in the way, three of our team have completed it!

Massive congratulations, Diana, Dione and Sarah C – happy graduation! 🎓🏃‍♀️

What an achievement and a brilliant milestone on the journey to the Great West Run in May.

New Year, Still Here!

As we all ease back into business as usual here at CEDA, and with all the talk of what a new year might bring you can rest assured that in the ways that matter we wont be doing anything differently. We will still be;

✅ Creating welcoming spaces

✅ Building and maintaining connections

✅ Amplifying voices and celebrating individuals

✅ Championing inclusion and equality

The year may change. Our values don’t.
