The first 10 mins of your first session.
It’s natural to feel a little apprehensive about starting therapy whether its in person or online. While every therapist has their own style, the first 10 minutes of a session are usually quite similar.

A warm welcome, the therapist will greet you, make sure your audio/video is working and check that you are in a private space
It is normal to feel nervous; the therapist will start to try to make you feel more comfortable by making sure you have everything that you need with you, glass of water, cup of tea/coffee.
They will usually go through a few practical details, such as confidentiality, your session times, the length of the session and cancellations.
When you are ready the Therapist will usually start with finding out what brought you to therapy. You don’t have to know the full answer, but a small piece is enough to start.
