Our headquarters at Westpoint, near Exeter also offers a unique driver training and conference centre, which operates from a purpose built facility. This day exists to raise awareness of the seriousness of burns and scalds for both adults and children, and how to prevent accidents.

Do you know what a backdraught is? 🔥

As demonstrated here by our fire behaviour students, a backdraught can occur when air is introduced to a fire compartment that previously wasn't sufficiently ventilated to allow the fire to burn cleanly.

The compartment fills with the hot unburnt products of combustion (fire gases). When air is introduced by the opening of a door or window, those gases mix with the air to complete the triangle of fire. This can lead to backdraught. 🚪

Our fire behaviour courses teach how to recognise the signs, and how to deal safely with this and other phenomena, including flashovers and fire gas explosions.
