🚨 As a business owner, it can be frustrating when you see training being done incorrectly.
I had a company call me yesterday saying they’d been offered forklift training for 4 candidates at once.
Here’s the issue 👇
In forklift training, the recognised maximum is usually 3:1:1 – that’s three trainees, one instructor, one truck. This ratio ensures:
✅ Everyone gets enough hands-on practice
✅ Training is safe, structured and compliant
✅ Insurance cover is valid if something goes wrong
Yes, there can be variations depending on whether it’s a novice, refresher, or conversion course—but cutting corners to squeeze in more people is never safe, never compliant, and could leave companies uninsured.
⚠️ Training should always prioritise safety and quality over “quick wins.”
👉 I’d love to hear from other business owners and trainers—have you come across companies offering unsafe ratios like this?
