πŸ•ŠοΈ Lisboa em Luto β€” Lisbon in Mourning

Some tragedies stop us in our tracks.
Yesterday, a carriage that had carried countless lives up and down Lisbon’s hills for more than a century became the scene of unspeakable loss.

The Ascensor da GlΓ³ria was never just a funicular. It was a thread through Lisbon’s heart β€” connecting past and present, residents and visitors, memories and everyday journeys. Yesterday, that thread was broken.

We grieve for every life lost.
We hold in our hearts every family shattered, every friend left searching for words, every community struck by this sudden silence.

πŸ‡΅πŸ‡Ή Across Portugal and across the world, we stand together.
May our shared mourning become shared strength.
May our remembrance become gentle light.
And may Lisbon’s hills β€” once lifted by the GlΓ³ria β€” carry these souls higher still.

May this inspire others to find their way back and not give up on themselves.

Joe tried everything he could to help himself feel better, but despite his best efforts, he remained stuck.

He started to believe that he would never feel "normal" again and understandably began losing hope.

But then something happened that changed his life forever.

He decided to seek help, and that's when he reached out to me - and it was the best decision he ever made!

In the darkest moments of Joe's life, he found the inner strength to reconnect with his authentic self.

Thank you for blessing me to be a part of your transformational journey.

Self-validation is critical in creating and sustaining a healthy relationship with ourselves.

I know that many people struggle with self-validation, but it is a skill that anyone can learn.

I am wishing you unconditional love for yourself.

Let's validate the feelings of those with mental health issues and let them know it's ok not to be ok.

Now more than ever, it's essential to be mindful of and validate the feelings and experiences of those living with mental health problems.

Mental health issues are widely understood but often not acknowledged. Mental illness can be challenging to deal with, and it is crucial to have a support system. Many people reach out for validation on their experiences but don't necessarily feel heard.

By learning to see things from their perspective, we can create a more supportive society and understanding. So let's show we care and validate the feelings and experiences of those with mental health issues to make them feel supported and understood. Doing so will help reduce the stigma attached to mental health issues.

I recently talked to a friend of mine about self-validation, and she said it would be cool if I could make a list of some of the "Fill-In-The-Blank" Strategies I use on my page. So here we are! πŸ™‚

But before we delve into this, I just wanted to highlight that self-validation is an important part of self-care, mental health and emotional wellbeing.

You may not always feel like you can trust your emotions, but that doesn't mean you have to dismiss them or ignore them entirely.

When I began the journey of self-validation, I wasn't sure what questions to ask myself, which words to use, or how to even go about it.

The strategies that help me validate myself are the same ones I use with clients like you.

So, let's have a look at a few of these "Fill-In-The-Blanks" techniques I use for self-validation that perhaps you can find useful too.

So let's get started!

FILL IN THE BLANKS

1 - I'm allowed to feel ______ because ______.

2 - I give myself permission to feel _______ because _________.

These are two of my favourite ones to use, especially when dealing with emotions that differ from day to day or even hour by hour. It usually helps a lot!

3 - This feeling is totally normal for someone who feels ___________ and here's why_________.

If it's an emotion you feel often; this is a great way to remind yourself that it's normal and okay! Just remember why.

4 - This feeling makes perfect sense for someone who feels __________ because __________.

I used to use this one when I was younger, but now I'm trying not to do it as much because I think with time, you need to understand that emotions are okay without always having a reason behind them.

5 - I feel ____________ because __________, and that makes sense given my past experiences with this.

This is another one I use when dealing with feelings linked to my past or links to other emotions in my life. It's always good to remember the reasons behind why you may be feeling a certain way.

6 - This feeling is okay because I'm going to take care of myself and do __________.

Taking care of yourself is a great way to feel validated for your feelings! It also helps calm down any emotions you feel if they're negative, but don't worry, it's always okay to have negative feelings too!

7 - I'm allowed to feel ___________ because __________, and I know it's going to be okay because _______.

This is another one I use a lot with my feelings. This is a good one to remind yourself that you're going to be okay, no matter how you're feeling or if those feelings change! It helps me so much when I'm feeling helpless or if those feelings will last a while. Just remind yourself of the good things in your life, making those feelings come a little easier. Don't let your emotions control the rest of your day, and make sure you tell yourself it's all going to be okay.

8 - I don't have to feel ___________ anymore because _________.

This is another of my favourites, especially when dealing with negative emotions that you want to get rid of right this second. This is a great one for those days when you want to end those negative feelings as soon as possible and give yourself some motivation towards that goal. Just remember that with time, nothing is stopping you from doing so!

I hope you enjoyed these strategies.

Please feel free to share this, as it may help others along the way in their journey towards self-validation.

I am wishing you all a Happy Monday!

Katja

Have you ever experienced unexplained physical pain, illness or discomfort? If so, you are not alone.

If you wonder why you have physical pain, you may be surprised to learn that it is common for emotions to cause pain and that many chronic pain conditions stem from unresolved emotional issues.

We all experience emotional pain at some point in our lives. If we don't have the skills to process this emotional pain, it remains trapped in the body, leading to stress and anxiety. Eventually, we may experience physical symptoms or disease due to this trapped energy.

Psychogenic pain is a psychological concept used to describe the physical manifestation of an underlying issue, which could be a mental health condition such as depression or anxiety or a traumatic experience from the past.

It is important to realize that psychogenic pain is not an official diagnostic term or a psychological problem in its own right. The concept conveys the realness of the mind and body connection. Our minds and bodies are one, and what happens in mind can affect us physically.

So, in essence, psychogenic pain refers to physical pain that originates from psychological factors, not the body. Your mind, emotions, trauma and stress can manifest physically in the body and are linked to mental health problems, such as depression or anxiety.

In some cases, the outcome of treating the underlying issue can lead to improvements in pain levels. So, recognizing emotional issues and getting in touch with your emotions can cure physical afflictions.

You might not know someone is struggling with depression. But here are five things you can do to help someone who's depressed.

1 - Listen. "Listen" is a verb. It means being fully present and engaged with another person. It means acknowledging what they're saying, whether you agree or not.

2 - Don't try to "fix" them or offer advice. Sometimes people need to be heard and accepted, not solved or advised.

3 - Ask how you can help β€” then do it. Even if it's just listening, ask what kind of support the person wants or needs, then follow through on it.

4 - Let them know they're not alone. If you've been there, share your experience in a way that makes the other person feel less isolated. If you haven't been there, remind them that many people have, and there is hope for recovery and a better life ahead.

5 - Reach out regularly β€” don't wait for them to come to you. People who are depressed often feel like no one cares about them or will notice if they're gone β€” so show them that isn't true! Make plans together and follow up on those plans when the time comes, even if the other person seems like they'd prefer to be alone.

Loneliness can be amplified on days like Valentine's Day, when everyone around seems to be in love, coupled up and enjoying themselves. The commercialism of Valentine's Day can make those who struggle with mental health, feel even more alone and left out. For people who are already feeling depressed and anxious, seeing all the happy couples out and about can be a painful and discouraging experience. They may feel that they are not good enough or worthy and that they are the only ones who are not in a relationship or do not have anyone to celebrate with.

You don't need someone to love in order for your Valentines Day to be special. Instead of worrying about the lack of a significant other, consider spending it with yourself!

Don't be afraid to have a laugh and have a good time. Here are some don'ts for singles on Valentine's Day.

Valentine's Day can be tough for single people. You don't have a partner to share it with, which means you're kind of just on your own. So I've decided to put together a list of funny and witty don'ts for today.

Just remember... today is not just a day for lovers! It's also a day to spend some quality time with yourself. Think about how fun it is to be single on Valentines Day and try not to get too caught up in it and have a laugh along the way.

Hope you enjoy!
