Helped our client to set up voice control on his iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. This in-built option allows full hands-free access and uses a number system to navigate the screen.

On a serious note, Lewis Support will take delivery of all the recommended technology and equipment, install and set up everything and then deliver to the client ready to go. We even get rid of the packaging!

Children’s Mental Health Week

This week we have been supporting children’s mental health week. It is our privilege at Lewis Support to work with children and young people and assist them to feel confident and as independent as possible in their daily activities.

The National Deaf Children’s Society has teamed up with Peppa Pig on a new story line where George is revealed to be moderately deaf in one ear.

jodieounsley voices the audiologist in the series. The former exechiefswomen player and Gladiator was one of the UK’s youngest children to have a cochlear implant fitted and has been talking about the importance of representation.

Handcrafted with love and care by a team of volunteers, their tactile picture books and sensory experiences are designed to bring the visual world of books and learning to life.

Special audio descriptions guide their fingers over the raised pictures, helping them build a picture in their minds eye and ‘see’ through touch. Many celebrities have recorded their books.

Science experiment time

The washing up liquid disrupts the surface tension of milk, producing swirling colourful patterns of food colouring dissolved in milk.

Food colouring dissolves in pure water. Milk is mostly water, but it has billions of tiny droplets of fat suspended in it. Food colouring doesn’t dissolve in fat, so the fat prevents the food colouring from mixing very far.

The water molecules at the surface is under tension. Washing-up liquid reduces the surface tension, but only where the drop falls. The rest of the surface pulls away, and this causes the milk to churn and mix, moving the colours.
