Hygge (pronounced hyoo-guh) is a Danish word that refers to a feeling of coziness, comfort, warmth, and contentment. It’s about enjoying simple pleasures — like soft lighting, warm blankets, good company, candles, tea, or a peaceful atmosphere. Bring in the winter water season with this in mind ✨

Winter is the most Yin time of the year — still, quiet, and deeply calming.
In Chinese Medicine, winter connects to the Water element, with cold in the heavens and water on earth. This season influences the kidneys, bones, and holds the emotion of fear.

The kidneys are the foundation of our creation, power, skill, and inner ability.

Winter wellness tips:
• Stay warm and hydrated
• Enjoy soups, nourishing teas, broths, dark beans, and warming spices
• Avoid detoxing or raw, cooling foods
• Choose gentle movement and exercise
• Keep the kidneys and lower back warm

Honor the season by slowing down and replenishing your energy. ❄️🖤

At the Exeter Acupuncture Project, we use electro-acupuncture to treat overactive bladder with positive results. This approach isn’t just limited to bladder health, it can support many other conditions and is commonly used for musculoskeletal (MSK) treatments too.

⚡️ Electroacupuncture for Overactive Bladder?

There’s growing evidence that this modern take on an ancient technique may help reduce symptoms like urgency, frequency, and incontinence.

By stimulating key acupuncture points with targeted electrical pulses, electroacupuncture may help regulate bladder function through the nervous system — offering relief without the side effects associated with pharmaceutical treatments.

Recent research suggests that acupuncture could offer measurable benefits for people living with type 2 diabetes. A review of over 2,100 participants found that, when combined with standard treatments, acupuncture helped lower fasting blood glucose, HbA1c, and even improved insulin sensitivity, cholesterol levels, and BMI. While more high-quality trials are still needed, these findings show promising potential for acupuncture as a supportive therapy in managing type 2 diabetes. Could this be the missing piece in improving blood sugar control?✨
