A new RCN exhibition, Moved to Care: Stories of Nursing and Migration, highlights the long and often overlooked history of migrant nurses who have shaped UK health care, amid news that research shows the number of overseas nurses and carers has collapsed. Analysis of Home Office quarterly data reveals the number of overseas nurses granted entry to the UK has fallen by 93% over three years. Just 1,777 overseas nurses were granted entry in 2025, compared with 26,100 in 2022.
Now is more important than ever to show the value that migrant nursing staff and carers bring to the UK health and care system. Take a look:

Historic artefacts and contemporary creative work reveal the personal journeys of migrant nurses

5 years after the coup in Myanmar, we remain gravely concerned by the continued humanitarian crisis in the country, and the persistent and targeted attacks on health care workers and facilities.

On Monday this week, with the British Medical Association, we called for the Tatmadaw to respect the principle of medical neutrality and their duties under international humanitarian law and international human rights law. ➡️ https://bit.ly/4apczPM

In the face of violent oppression, nursing care in Myanmar has not stopped.

Read more about nursing in Myanmar, and how we’ve been supporting a nurse education programme for the resilient and determined nursing staff and academics in the country, in RCN Associate Director of International Nursing Marcus Wootton's latest blog. ⬇️

In this lunchtime independent health and social care session, RCN Health, Safety and Wellbeing Senior National Officer Louise Church will speak about what this really means, and what you can do if this isn't the norm at your employer.

Find out more about our Rest, Rehydrate, Refuel resource and book your place to receive the joining link.
