A year ago I finally got the chance to take some time to focus on turning a hobby and a love of books into something else. A retreat seemed a bit of an indulgence and i had no clue of what I might write ! It was a safe adventure into the beautiful countryside, in a gorgeous house. There would be a tutor ! How bad could it be ? The reality was ...... soo not bad at all ! I met a amazingly talented group of aspiring
Writers, in a relaxed comfortable setting, just half an hour away from Cornwall. I learnt so much that week. Thank you Debi and Rosemary for kick starting a whole year of building on that week.

My first mic night with Word Kitchen on the 25th March, as a listener ! The warm welcome, made me think I may actually have a go at sharing my work this way . Who knows ! 👍😀

We're sorry to say that our public lift is currently out of order. It may be out of service until the end of this week. This means no step free access to the upstairs toilets, Quiet Room etc

There is an accessible toilet located in the Children's Library on the main floor. If you need any assistance, please speak to a member of staff.

We'll update on here as soon as we have a working lift again. But we apologise for the inconvenience, and thank you for bearing with us!

Join us at Exeter Phoenix for an hour of writing in companionable silence 🖋️📖

Friday 27th March 12.30 - 1.30pm
Coffee in the cafe bar from 1.30-2.30pm

Carla Jenkins, founder of Raw Writing, realised that what writers need is to carve out time within their day to write - to make an appointment to write, just like you need to make time to walk the dog, go to the gym, or spend time with a friend.

At Silent Writing Club we set the timer and write. You can work on your own project, or just allow your mind to be creative - it's up to you.

Spaces are limited, so if all the places are taken when you arrive, we invite you to write in the Exeter Phoenix Cafe Bar and we will see you there afterwards.

(If you just fancy coming along to meet other writers and have a chat, we will be in the bar from 1.30- 2.30pm!)
