My first mic night with Word Kitchen on the 25th March, as a listener ! The warm welcome, made me think I may actually have a go at sharing my work this way . Who knows ! πŸ‘πŸ˜€

We're sorry to say that our public lift is currently out of order. It may be out of service until the end of this week. This means no step free access to the upstairs toilets, Quiet Room etc

There is an accessible toilet located in the Children's Library on the main floor. If you need any assistance, please speak to a member of staff.

We'll update on here as soon as we have a working lift again. But we apologise for the inconvenience, and thank you for bearing with us!

Join us at Exeter Phoenix for an hour of writing in companionable silence πŸ–‹οΈπŸ“–

Friday 27th March 12.30 - 1.30pm
Coffee in the cafe bar from 1.30-2.30pm

Carla Jenkins, founder of Raw Writing, realised that what writers need is to carve out time within their day to write - to make an appointment to write, just like you need to make time to walk the dog, go to the gym, or spend time with a friend.

At Silent Writing Club we set the timer and write. You can work on your own project, or just allow your mind to be creative - it's up to you.

Spaces are limited, so if all the places are taken when you arrive, we invite you to write in the Exeter Phoenix Cafe Bar and we will see you there afterwards.

(If you just fancy coming along to meet other writers and have a chat, we will be in the bar from 1.30- 2.30pm!)

This event is free, but please use the Meetup link to let us know you'll be coming - https://www.meetup.com/exeter-writing-meetup-group/events/313710249

From Torquay to Sydney ✈️
Tilly Reed, our Clinical Practice Lead in our Baywide Community Mental Health Team, recently embarked on a sabbatical to the land down under to share our experiences of Peer-supported Open Dialogue (POD).
POD places the person at the centre of their care and their network of support, whether that's family, friends or other professionals involved in their care.
It’s amazing to see work happening here in Devon making a difference across the world and to learn from how the approach is being rolled-out in Australia: https://orlo.uk/XciZp

I often spend quality time browsing in second hand shops for books. I found this Stephen King book on Writing in the Force Cancer charity shop in Fore Street, Heavitree, Devon. This photograph was in the front of the book. If this is your book and photograph please message me and I can try and get it back to you !

Looe, was as welcoming and peaceful as I remember. Couldn't find a single Walrus ! Did find a seal, one of my favourite book shops and fish and chips ! Also had the pleasure of meeting local writers, who shared their stories with me. I drafted 250 words for our writers group, gratefully sat near the sea, in the sun, ticking off my to do list. Thank you Looe. I hope the spring brings good weather so everyone can try note taking/writing outside. Give it a go !
