Warren, 43, came to Hands-on Health with severe upper and lower back pain and marked weakness that immediately affected his ability to work. He booked in for chiropractic treatment with Dave Evans, having had excellent results years earlier.

“It wiped me out,” he says. “I was worried I wouldn’t be able to work.”

The pain had started suddenly after he’d been renovating his bathroom.

Following a detailed chiropractic assessment, Dave began a course of targeted chiropractic care, acupuncture and tailored rehabilitation exercises.
Within days he was moving better.

Eight weeks later, he was pain free, sleeping better, and back to full fitness.

He now comes in monthly to stay strong and confident at work and in the gym.

Led by Maria Graham from Ruby Fury Academy, these sessions focus on:

• Mechanics of movement

• Strength and conditioning
• Gradual, progressive improvement

Using focus pads and strike shields (no high kicks required), you’ll learn how to generate real power through technique — not brute strength.

Over the weeks, you’ll notice improved balance, flexibility and overall fitness — all in a supportive, small-group or one-to-one environment.

Feeling strong isn’t just physical. It’s mental too.

A patient came in recently with shoulder pain and couldn’t work out why.

“I’ve got no idea why my shoulder suddenly started hurting.”

That’s something we hear quite often in clinic.

Recently, a woman came to see one of our massage therapists because of pain in her right shoulder and neck. It had become uncomfortable enough that she could no longer sleep on that side.

At first she couldn’t think of anything that might have triggered it.

But as the therapist asked about what she’d been doing over the previous few weeks, something came back to her — she’d painted a ceiling.

Reaching overhead repeatedly had likely irritated the muscles around her shoulder and neck.

After treatment the discomfort eased, her movement improved, and she left feeling much more comfortable.

And we’re sure the ceiling looks wonderful.

Sometimes the cause of pain isn’t as mysterious as it first seems. Often it becomes clearer simply by talking things through.

“Do you recommend multiple sessions?”
You’re always in control of your treatment.
We review your progress at every session and may suggest a course of treatment if we feel it will help you achieve the best results — but the decision is always yours.
If you do choose to book ahead, you can cancel or reschedule with 24 hours’ notice, with no penalty.

“Do you recommend stretches or exercises to help with recovery?”
Yes — where appropriate.
Any exercises we suggest are tailored specifically to your condition and stage of recovery. We focus on what will genuinely help, not just generic stretches.
And if you want, we’re happy to provide written guidance so you can feel confident doing them at home.

“Can I book a block of treatments?”
Absolutely.
Many patients prefer to secure regular slots — especially if they’re fitting appointments around work or following a structured rehabilitation plan.
Having consistency often makes progress smoother and easier.
