🌸 The Importance of Continuous Support 🌸

Support during pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period can make a meaningful difference to how parents feel throughout their journey. Having consistent, trusted support helps build confidence, reduce anxiety, and create a greater sense of calm. 💜

Continuous support means having someone who understands your preferences, listens to your concerns, and provides reassurance along the way. This might be your birth partner, a midwife, or someone supporting you through antenatal education. 🌿

When support is consistent, it helps create a feeling of safety and trust — both of which play an important role in how you experience birth and early parenthood.

You don’t have to navigate this journey alone. Support can help you feel informed, empowered, and confident every step of the way. ✨

🌸 Birth Affirmation of the Week 🌸

"I am never alone in birth." 💜

You are surrounded by support — from your birth partner, your care team, and the environment you create around you. You are also supported by your body, working instinctively and powerfully throughout labour. 🌿

Allow yourself to feel held, reassured, and supported every step of the way as you move closer to meeting your baby. ✨

🌸 Music, Lighting and Comfort Ideas for Pregnancy 🌸

Creating a calm, supportive environment during pregnancy can help you feel more relaxed, grounded, and connected as you prepare for your baby’s arrival. 💜

Here are a few simple ideas to bring more comfort into your day-to-day routine:

🎶 Music that helps you unwind
Gentle, familiar music can support relaxation, reduce stress, and create moments of calm.

🕯️ Soft, calming lighting
Using lamps or warm lighting in the evening can help create a peaceful atmosphere and support rest.

🧸 Comfortable, cosy spaces
A favourite chair, soft blankets, or cushions can give you a dedicated space to rest and slow down.

🌿 Calming scents
Light, familiar scents can help you feel relaxed and create a sense of comfort at home.

Taking time to create a calm environment during pregnancy can support both your emotional wellbeing and your preparation for the weeks ahead. ✨

🌸 New Blog – Supporting Labour Through Environment and Atmosphere 🌸

The space you give birth in can have a powerful influence on how labour unfolds. Feeling calm, safe, and supported helps your body work more effectively and encourages the natural flow of labour hormones. 💜

In my latest blog, I explore how simple elements like lighting, sound, privacy, and the people around you can shape your birth experience. 🌿

It’s a gentle reminder that your environment isn’t just about comfort — it plays an important role in helping you feel relaxed, confident, and supported during labour. ✨

🌸 Why Oxytocin Thrives in Calm Spaces 🌸

Oxytocin is often called the “love hormone,” and it plays a key role in labour by helping contractions to build and work effectively. 💜

This hormone is sensitive to your environment. When you feel calm, safe, and supported, oxytocin can flow more easily, helping labour to progress naturally. 🌿

Things like soft lighting, quiet surroundings, familiar voices, and feeling emotionally secure can all encourage oxytocin release. On the other hand, stress or feeling unsettled can interrupt this flow.

Creating a calm, supportive space isn’t just about comfort — it’s about helping your body do what it’s designed to do. ✨

One of the most common things I hear before someone books an antenatal course is…

“We just don’t feel ready yet”

And honestly, that’s completely normal 💛

Pregnancy can feel overwhelming, and it’s hard to know where to start or what you actually need to know.

That’s exactly why I run my courses the way I do—small, supportive sessions designed to help you feel calm, confident and prepared for birth and beyond 🤍

If you’re currently pregnant and due June or July, my next courses are now open for booking across East Devon.

Spaces are limited as I keep groups small, so if you’ve been thinking about it, now is a good time to secure your space.

You can book via my website or feel free to message me if you’d like to chat it through 😊
