I see that the Girl Guides and the Women’s Institute are amongst the organisations no longer accepting transgender women following the Supreme Court ruling on the definition of a woman. I want to make it clear that those organisations don’t have a choice if they want to avoid legal action so I’m not blaming them. I’m saying… what the hell are we doing? Why are we collectively buying into this scapegoating nonsense when every single day women and girls face very real threat from men and boys? From the low level undermining sexism to unwanted attention to outright violence. THAT toxicity and entitlement is the epidemic, not people wanting to feel comfortable in their own bodies.
I nearly didn’t make this post. It’s so much easier to feel quietly regretful and say nothing for fear of backlash or gross messages or people boycotting my small business but then I remembered to tuck my privilege back in and do it anyway.
