❄️ Cold Weather & Aching Joints ❄️

As the colder months roll in, many people start to notice their joints feeling stiffer — especially the knees, hips and hands. This is really common. Cooler temperatures can cause muscles to tighten and joint fluids to thicken, which can make everyday movement feel that bit harder.

Physiotherapy can help. The clinic offers a range of evidence-based treatments to help you stay comfortable and active throughout winter, including:

🌟 Targeted physiotherapy and joint mobilisation
🌟 Strength and flexibility exercises
🌟 Personalised home routines
🌟 TECAR Therapy to support healing, circulation and pain reduction
🌟 Acupuncture, provided by an accredited AACP member

Whether you’re managing arthritis, recovering from an injury, or just feeling that familiar seasonal stiffness, you don’t have to struggle through the winter months.

🌿 It’s Acupuncture Awareness Week! 🌿

Acupuncture is a fantastic treatment offered right here in clinic — and you can rest assured, you’re in safe hands.

As an accredited member of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP) — the largest professional body for acupuncture in the UK — all treatments are delivered to the highest standard. Membership is granted only after 300 hours of specialist training and maintained through ongoing professional development, ensuring safe and effective practice.

One question often asked…
“Does acupuncture hurt?” 🤔

The simple answer is — no!
The needles are incredibly fine (about the width of a hair), so most people feel little to no discomfort. You might notice a mild tingling, dull ache, or gentle warmth — all normal signs that your body is responding.

Many even find acupuncture deeply relaxing — some drift off during their session! 😴

Starting the week with the most fabulous feedback 🫶🏻

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“One treatment with Shockwave Therapy and the pain in my foot was practically gone!”

So grateful for kind words like this — and absolutely thrilled to see such brilliant results from Shockwave Therapy, helping with both foot pain and long-term spinal symptoms 🙌🏻

If you’re struggling with ongoing pain, it’s worth finding out whether Shockwave Therapy could help you too.

Thank you so much to everyone for your patience while there’s been some rearranging in this week’s clinic schedule 📅

It’s been a busy one — with an unexpected visit to the fracture clinic 🙄(fortunately not me) , ongoing clinic renovations 🔨 and more exciting continuing professional development👩‍💻

The clinic remains busy, so please don’t hold off getting in touch if you need to book an appointment 📲

Have a lovely weekend 🥰

31/10/2025

A little throwback to last weekend… and I’ll admit, my pain was definitely heading past a 7/10 at this point 🙈

WHEN TO STOP ✋
✅ Pain up to 4/10 – usually okay to keep going.
⚠️ Pain above 4/10 – ease off or slow down until it settles.
🚫 Pain 7/10 or higher – time to stop. You’ll only make things worse by pushing through.

Listen to your body — pain is feedback, not failure 💪

Back to business today — and I’ve got some exciting news! 🗞️✨

A brand NEW service is in development here at the clinic… 👀

I’ve officially started my training in Injection Therapy 💉 and, once I have completed my training and the necessary governance, insurance and competency requirements, I plan to offer injection treatments as an option alongside my physiotherapy services.

My aim is to provide patients with a wider range of evidence-based treatment options for managing pain and injury — where clinically appropriate, and always in line with current professional guidance. 🙌

I’ll share more updates as things progress — the service is not available yet, but watch this space!

If you’d like information in the meantime, feel free to drop me a message — I’m happy to answer questions 📲💬

You may have noticed a bit more running content on my social media recently… and here’s why 👀🏃‍♀️

This Saturday I’ll be taking part in the New York Virtual Marathon! 🗽✨

I’ll be running 26.2 miles on a route of my choice, and once I complete it, I’ll have guaranteed entry into next year’s New York Marathon — a dream I’ve had for such a long time 🥳

So why am I telling you this?
Because I need your support! 🙌

My route is above ☝🏻 so if you spot me on Saturday, please give me a wave, toot, or thumbs up as I go by 👍🏻 By the time I reach Eyemouth, I’m definitely going to need the encouragement 🙈

Wish me luck 🍀
Here goes nothing… 26.2 miles — let’s do this! 💪🏽✨

NHS vs Private Physiotherapy – what’s really the difference? 🤷🏼‍♀️

🧐 Many people don’t realise just how different NHS and private physiotherapy can be.

While the NHS provides fantastic care, the reality is that access can be limited, with long waiting times leading to:
⏳ Delays in getting seen
📋 Fewer routine treatment options

With private physiotherapy you’ll benefit from:
⚡️ Faster access to appointments
🏋🏼‍♀️ A wider range of treatments – from sports injuries to routine care
⏱ Longer appointment times for a more in-depth assessment
✨ Personalised treatment plans tailored to you

Putting your recovery in your own hands 💪

At Leanne Gillie Physiotherapy, you’ll get the time, support and treatment you need to feel your best. 💪
