💛 URGENT COMMUNITY APPEAL — PLEASE HELP US SAVE OUR NEW YORK TRIP 💛

This isn’t a post we ever thought we’d have to write but our SOTS family needs your help.

As many of you know, our stars have been working for months towards their once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform in New York City’s Tartan Day Parade ,representing Falkirk on a global stage. They’ve fundraised, trained, rehearsed, dreamed and poured their hearts into this journey.

Unfortunately, due to unexpected personal circumstances from two families, we’ve been left with £3,000 to cover in the next 48 hours. There is absolutely no blame, life happens, and we fully support our parents and the tough decisions they’ve had to make.

But it does mean the entire trip is now at risk of being cancelled for all of our young performers.
And after everything they’ve worked for… that would be heartbreaking.

So today, we’re reaching out to our community, the town that has always stood behind its young people.
If you’ve ever watched our kids perform, supported our events, smiled at our students in town, or simply believe in the power of giving children opportunities… we are asking, from the bottom of our hearts:

Hi I’m Cara (age 17) and I am an Advanced MT student at Stand-out-theatre school. I am beyond excited to have the opportunity to go to New York as a ‘final’ trip with SOTS before I leave for college and to be able to experience the world of Broadway firsthand as hopefully an intro to my future career. My hobbies are performing, singing, dancing, all things drama and musical theatre, running and going to concerts or shows. After school I would love to go on to study Musical Theatre which SOTS has had a huge role in preparing me for as I would not be where I am today without their support. Some of my favourite musicals include “The Great Gatsby”, “The Outsiders”, “Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York)”, “Bonnie and Clyde”, “The Last Five Years”, “Parade”, “Hadestown” and many more as I cannot choose from them all.

🌟 INTRODUCING OUR NEXT STAR…BRIANNA (AGE 14)🌟

My name is Brianna Gunn and I am 14 years old. I go to Larbert High School. I like swimming, holidays and am very passionate about musical theatre. I have been dance classes since I was 2½ then joined Falkirk Youth Theatre for a few years, until I found SOTS. I joined SOTS in April 2023 after doing an Easter camp on Matilda and loving every minute of it. In my spare time I attend SOTS 6 days a week, attending 6 classes myself and being a teaching assistant to another 4 classes. SOTS is my happy place, it's my safe place, it's my Theatre School Family. I also help my Dad out at disco's. My Dad is a DJ and is one of my biggest supports. He too, was in musical theatre as a child and loves singing. He still sings on occasions and helps me out whenever he can. I join my Dad at disco's and I love doing all the dancing and games with the children. It seems music, dance and theatre are my life. That's why I am so excited about our trip to New York with SOTS. It's a dream come true. I get to represent Scotland and SOTS as I participate in The Tartan Day Parade. What an honour. I'm hoping that you will be able to help me, in some kind of way, to get to New York.
