πŸ“£ Scotland is making real progress towards eliminating transmissions of HIV.

Our latest annual report shows:

βœ… An estimated 6,500 people are living with HIV in Scotland
βœ… 94% have been diagnosed
βœ… 91% of those diagnosed are receiving treatment
βœ… 95% of those on treatment are virally suppressed, meaning HIV cannot be transmitted through s*x

Uptake of PrEP remains high, helping prevent new cases. PrEP is a preventive medication for people who are HIV-negative but at risk of exposure to HIV. When taken correctly, it is highly effective at preventing HIV infection.

To keep moving forward, Scotland must stay flexible and responsive to global changes and evolving health needs.

Your Contraception Choices After Birth

Contraception might be the last thing on your mind β€” but evidence shows that there is improved maternal and child health if pregnancies are at least one year apart.

Not all methods are suitable immediately after birth, so it’s important to explore your options early. Your Midwife will discuss this with you during your antenatal appointments.
