Thomas Cuthell & Sons has grown over the years and we now have funeral homes in Bo'ness, Denny, Grangemouth and Falkirk. All our premises are open Monday to Friday 9:00am till 5:00pm, with our Falkirk funeral home being open on a Saturday until 12:30pm. Thomas Cuthell founded our business in 1905 and today we are still very much a family business. There are five members of the Cuthell family involved in the running and operating of the business, having two generations still involved enables us to retain the traditions and values of the generations before us whilst pushing the business forward and staying up to date with legislation and embracing new ideas. Examples of this would be the traditions of using tail coats and top hats, and the availability of our vintage hearse contrasted by the recent rebranding of Thomas Cuthell and Sons and the creation of our company logo. Each funeral home has an office which can assist with your enquiry and if necessary a funeral director is never far away.

During the month of December we have erected our memorial trees within each of our funeral homes and would like to extend an invitation to you, to call in and place a message of remembrance in memory of a loved one upon our trees.
We understand that not everyone is able to get out and about and it may not be convenient to pop into our premises therefore please do not hesitate to email us your message at enquiries@thomascuthell.co.uk or call us and we will be more than happy to attend to this on your behalf.
Each year we like to be able to give back to our communities where possible and this year, should you wish to make a donation, we will be holding a collection to aid the good work of The Driving Force , Bo'ness Car 4U , Home 2 Hospital and Meadowbank Car 4U SCIO . At the end of December, Thomas Cuthell and Sons will match any donations raised and in turn the final amount will be split between these fantastic charities, to support those that require their services. It is estimated that there are around 10,300 war memorials situated across scotland. These are located in towns, within churches and at other important locations.

On this, Remembrance Sunday, we give thanks as a nation, that this sad fact unites us as we reflect and give thanks for all who made the ultimate safrifice.

“At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them”

Grant Cuthell
1946 – 2025
It is with a heavy heart and great sadness we advise that Grant Cuthell (retired Company Chairman), passed away peacefully on Monday 6th October 2025.
Grant followed in his father & grandfather’s footsteps and joined our family business almost 65 years ago. In his early years he trained to become a Joiner and Funeral Director and subsequently served as Company Chairman.
Although he retired in recent years, Grant continued to maintain an active interest in the business and enjoyed popping into each of our funeral homes when the opportunity arose.

Today we celebrate our Funeral Director, Mark Fowler.
Mark initially joined our team as a young lad, working on a Saturday morning, washing cars, sweeping the yard and furnishing coffins, he then went on to become a permanent member of our team as a Funeral Service Operative and has progressed over the years to his role today as a fully qualified Funeral Director.
He has been looking after our bereaved families across Forth Valley for over 20 years and we would like to thank Mark for all that he has done and for all that he continues to do, to ensure that our families are supported in the best possible way.

40 years ago the community of Denny and the surrounding areas first allowed us to care for them. Yesterday we were delighted that the Cuthell Trophy continues to be a part of the calendar year at Denny Bowling Club. Our congratulations to the winners, Hoss Phillips & Jonathan Kemp and to the very close runners up John McCAfferty and Kenny Mabon. Equally, well done to John & Frank Grant and Mark McGuire & Jim O’Raw.
